The snake plant at Huahua's home has recently curled its leaves, which looks really ugly. After finding the cause, I decided to put together an article on the reasons for curled leaves and how to deal with them for everyone to see. Snake Plant Got a "Wavy Perm"

G a r d e n i n g E n c y c l o p e d i a

Cause One

:

Improper Watering

。

Although the snake plant is drought-tolerant, it can't go without water for a long time. If the leaves can't get enough water, they will become soft and curl.

Solution:

Pay attention to the watering time. The basic principle is to water thoroughly once the soil is dry. You can dig down 3~5cm to check. If it's dry, it's time to water. In the current season, generally water once a week.

Cause Two

:

Too Much Light

。

The snake plant is fairly shade-tolerant and doesn't need overly strong light, otherwise the leaves are prone to wilting and curling.

Solution:

When the temperature is high and the light is strong, don't put the snake plant on a south-facing balcony. You can place it in the living room where there is scattered light.

Cause Three

:

Compact Soil, Lack of Nutrients

。

If the soil for growing the snake plant isn't loose and breathable enough, it easily becomes compacted, which affects the roots' ability to absorb nutrients and causes the leaves to curl.

Solution:

For the soil, you can mix leaf mold and river sand at a 1:1 ratio. Placing some ceramic pellets or tile shards at the bottom of the pot can increase drainage and breathability. Normally, use fermented rice water to water the plant to ensure a sufficient nutrient supply.

Rose Leaves "Shrunk" into a Ball

Cause One

:

Too Much Light

。

Roses love the sun, but when the temperature is too high and the light is too strong, it speeds up the evaporation of water from the leaves, causing them to wilt and curl.

Solution:

When the light is too strong, be sure to shade the rose to reduce water evaporation, so the leaves can stay vigorous.

Cause Two

:

Malnutrition

。

Roses need sufficient nutrients to support both blooming and leaf growth. If the soil lacks nutrients, newly grown leaves may curl.

Solution:

You can bury two granules of compound fertilizer in the rose's potting soil each month to maintain soil fertility. Before the flowering period, apply some 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution to promote sprouting.

Cause Three

:

Pests and Diseases

。

Recently, some plant lovers reported that their roses had aphids. Aphids are one of the main pests and diseases of roses. Once infected, they easily cause the rose leaves to curl.

Solution:

Chop garlic at home into garlic paste, mix it evenly with water, then filter out the garlic water. After diluting it 20 times, spray it on the roses with a spray bottle. Spray for a week straight and it'll be fine~

Radermachera Leaves Got "Wrinkled"

G a r d e n i n g E n c y c l o p e d i a

Cause One

:

Sudden Environmental Change, Poor Air Circulation

。

At first, the Radermachera may be unfamiliar with the new environment and may show curled leaves. In addition, if the placement location isn't ventilated and the air humidity isn't enough, it will also affect the condition of the leaves.

Solution:

Give it sufficient light, place it in a ventilated spot, and frequently spray water around the Radermachera to maintain air humidity.

Cause Two

:

Improper Watering

。

If watering is insufficient, the leaves can't absorb enough water and easily curl and shrivel; if watered too much, the Radermachera easily gets waterlogged, and the leaves will also droop and bend.

Solution:

Generally, watering the Radermachera once a week is enough. It's better to let it dry out than to let it get waterlogged. If it dries out, watering will restore it; if it gets waterlogged, the roots easily rot and it's hard to save.

Cause Three

:

Lack of Nutrients

。

It may be that the flower pot isn't big enough, the root system is too strong, and the soil fertility isn't enough, causing a lack of nutrients; it may also be that the soil itself isn't fertile enough.

Solution:

For the soil, you can choose leaf mold and river sand, mixed at a 1:1 ratio. Switch to a larger pot to ensure the roots have enough room to spread out.

Spider Plant Got an "Ionic Perm"

G a r d e n i n g E n c y c l o p e d i a

Cause One

:

Root Damage

。

If the roots are damaged during transplanting, it will affect the spider plant's ability to absorb nutrients and water. Without enough nutrients and water, the spider plant's leaf edges will curl.

Solution:

Be very careful when transplanting and don't damage the roots. If there is damage, let it dry first, apply carbendazim, and then replant it.

Cause Two

:

Too Much Light

。

Spider plants are shade-tolerant and don't need too much light. If the light is too strong, it will cause the leaves to evaporate water faster and curl.

Solution:

Generally, we just place the spider plant in the bedroom or living room, where it can receive scattered light.

Cause Three

:

Not Enough Space

。

Spider plants need plenty of room to spread out. If there are obstructions around them, such as being against a wall, they will not only easily curl but also have their leaves directly broken.

Solution:

Place the spider plant somewhere with space on all sides, or you can just hang it up.

If the Money Tree Curls, Can It Still Bring Wealth?

G a r d e n i n g E n c y c l o p e d i a

Cause One

:

Improper Fertilizing

。

Some plant lovers, in order to make the money tree grow lush and glossy green, apply too much fertilizer, which causes the newly grown leaves to curl.

Solution:

Pour a large amount of water into the money tree's potting soil, watering several more times each day, so the excess fertilizer flows out through the drainage holes with the water. Then put the plant in a well-ventilated place and pick off the already curled leaves.

Cause Two

:

Infected with Pests and Diseases

。

Similar to roses, if the money tree is infected with pests and diseases, its leaves will also curl.

Solution:

Quickly check through the leaves to see if there are insects or disease spots. Once found, cut them off immediately, then spray carbendazim to sterilize and disinfect.

Cause Three

:

Improper Placement, Uneven Light

。

If one side of the money tree gets light and the other doesn't, it easily causes the leaves on the side without light to curl.

Solution:

The money tree is fairly shade-tolerant. Normally, just place it in the living room or a similar place with scattered light. Regularly turn the pot so the leaves can receive even light, and it will grow flat and green!
