Orchids are a traditional famous flower of China, and their blooms are extremely beautiful, elegant and noble. They are a symbol of purity and elegance, deeply loved by everyone, and together with plum, bamboo and chrysanthemum, they are known as the Four Gentlemen. If you want to grow orchids that are beautiful, good-looking and well-shaped, you need to rely on later care, that is, pruning, which is very important. Below I will share a few small tips to make orchids grow vigorously and beautifully.

When we grow orchids, problems are unavoidable, for example, leaves turning yellow, withering, or root rot, and so on. When these situations occur, you should promptly prune according to the situation, trimming branches, leaves or roots, and so on, so that they can return to normal.

1. If the orchid you are growing develops dry, withered leaves, and if you do not care for it in time, you will find more and more withered leaves. If you notice the leaves gradually stop being green and dry from the tip gradually down to the root, then you must prune it in time and cut off the withered leaves promptly. If you do not cut them off in time, they will continue to waste some of the orchid's nutrients, causing unnecessary waste.

2. When orchids develop yellow leaves

If an orchid develops yellow leaves during care, this also needs to be discovered in time and pruned in time. If you find that the orchid's leaves begin to turn yellow from the tip and gradually yellow down to the base of the leaf, then it is time to prune promptly. But when cutting, be careful not to cut off the entire leaf. Depending on how the leaf has turned yellow, cut off whichever part has yellowed.

Because cutting piece by piece like this can preserve the remaining energy of the yellow leaves and let them exert their final energy. If the leaves turn yellow and are not pruned in time, the disease infecting the yellow leaves will spread to the other leaves, and this will cause the entire orchid to gradually turn yellow and become infected.

3. For orchids that already have root rot, sometimes when we grow orchids, excessive watering or soil that is not breathable enough can cause water to accumulate in the potting soil, resulting in orchid root rot. In such cases, you should promptly prune the orchid with root rot, cut off the rotted roots in time, change to another pot, and care for it normally. Do not water too much. You can also add orchid growing medium to the potting soil, so that the orchid can recover its vitality faster and bloom continuously the following year.
