Reasons Why Epiphyllum Does Not Bloom and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are several reasons why Epiphyllum does not bloom: if it is placed in a spot that is too dark, it needs to be moved to a brighter place. If there is too much water and fertilizer, they should be appropriately reduced. If it has not been pruned for a long time, it should be pruned promptly.

1. Provide Light

1. Reason: Although Epiphyllum is not a plant that particularly loves sunlight, its growth still requires a certain amount of sunlight.

2. Solution: In spring and autumn, it should be given a certain amount of light; only by ensuring this can it bloom. In summer, some shading is necessary because it will be very sunny, and it cannot tolerate it.

2. Adjust Water and Fertilizer

1. Reason: Too much water and fertilizer are both unsuitable for it, especially after autumn, which is the critical period for its blooming. During this period, if watering and fertilizing are excessive, it will continue to grow new branches, and the nutrients will be diverted to the branches, leaving very few nutrients for blooming.

2. Solution: When it is growing relatively vigorously, liquid fertilizer should be applied at least once a month, but not too much, especially in autumn, as this will affect its blooming.

3. Prune Promptly

1. Reason: It grows very fast, and new branches frequently emerge. If we do not need them for cuttings or scions, they should be pruned promptly; otherwise, the excess branches will consume a lot of nutrients and affect blooming.

2. Solution: Keep some relatively robust branches, then cut off the weaker ones. It is best to cut them off as soon as they are discovered.
