Reasons Why Phalaenopsis Orchids Do Not Bloom and How to Fix Them
I. Reduce Light
1. Cause: Phalaenopsis orchids do not like sunlight; when grown in a place with very strong light, it is very difficult for the flowers to open.
2. Solution: The light must not be too strong, but it is needed, so that the flowers will also bloom beautifully. Normally we can place it in a spot with diffused light, but we must not let it be exposed to direct sunlight.
II. Adjust the Temperature
1. Cause: In summer it cannot be given too high a temperature, and in winter it must not be too low either, otherwise its growth will have problems, and it may even die. Moreover, if the temperature is very low, its flower buds will shrivel, and blooming the following spring will be affected.
2. Solution: Adjust its temperature to 16 to 30, lower the temperature appropriately in summer, and move it into a greenhouse in winter.
III. Adjust the Humidity
1. Cause: It likes high humidity; if the humidity is very low, its flower count will gradually decrease, and it may even be very difficult for it to open.
2. Solution: Regularly water the area where it grows new roots, and water less after blooming, so as to regulate the humidity.
IV. Increase Water
1. Cause: When it is growing relatively fast, its soil should be kept fairly moist; if there is not enough water, blooming will be affected.
2. Solution: In summer, water it more so that it will not wilt from too little water. In winter, extend the watering interval a bit, so that blooming will not be affected.
V. Ventilation and Drainage
1. Cause: If there is no good ventilation and drainage, its roots rot easily, and then it will not bloom quickly.
2. Solution: Find a suitable place with fairly good ventilation, and change the pot to one with very good drainage.
VI. Adjust Fertilization
1. Cause: If too much nitrogen fertilizer has been applied, it will also be relatively difficult for it to bloom. In addition, improper fertilization can also affect blooming.
2. Solution: Apply a certain amount of potassium fertilizer. At the bud stage, still fertilize sparingly, so that the flowers will not drop. When the temperature is too high or too low, do not fertilize.
