Azalea, also known as yingshanhong, comes in many varieties and colors, including pink, yellow, white and more. They are all very bright and beautiful, noble and elegant, and whether decorating a courtyard or a balcony, they add a lovely touch.

While caring for azaleas, you may also run into the problem of leaves dropping off in droves. At that point, you can cover the plant with a plastic bag, and it will become lush and leafy again, and look especially perky too.

When azaleas show this problem, it may be caused by these 2 things!

The first: the soil has become alkaline

Improper watering and fertilizing can easily make the soil alkaline. Once it becomes alkaline, it is bad for root growth, and the leaves will dry out and drop off in large numbers.

At this point, cut off all the dried leaves. Between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m., cover the plant with a plastic bag, leaving a gap. During the day, keep it in its usual spot with bright, indirect light. In about 7 to 10 days it will recover.

Also, apply some ferrous sulfate water, which can adjust the pH of the soil, making it acidic and reducing dry leaves and leaf drop.

The second: improper watering

Improper watering can also easily cause leaf drop. Many friends may have experienced this: when you remember to water, you water once a day; when you forget, you water once every ten days to half a month. This feast-or-famine pattern is very bad for azalea growth, so watering should be done at a regular frequency.

At this point, if the roots are not damaged, you can water thoroughly once, cover the plant with a plastic bag to maintain humidity and temperature, and in about 7 to 10 days it will slowly grow small leaves and return to normal growth.
