For the rest of my life

The wind and snow are you

The spring blossoms are you

The summer rain is you too

The autumn gold is you

The warmth and cold of the four seasons are you

Wherever my gaze falls

It is you too...

One chance encounter during last year's Spring Festival, while accompanying Mommy to buy green plants at Dounan, I was drawn to the adorable paws of a Bear's Paw (Cotyledon tomentosa). From then on, my succulent-growing journey grew more and more out of control... As a Yunnan native, when I took the college entrance exam two years ago I also chose to stay in Yunnan for university. I have grown used to Kunming's blue skies, Kunming's air, and all the people and things of Kunming. As a laid-back succulent grower, I was destined by fate to meet all of you for the rest of my life.

It happened that about half a year after falling into the hobby, I caught last year's Aeonium craze. At the time, Aeoniums were explosively popular. Seeing so many online photos versus the real-life Aeoniums was like two extremes; real-life Aeoniums were not that beautiful, so in the scorching June I bought my first batch of Aeoniums.

Because I am still a student and limited by my financial situation, I bought many small seedlings, believing they would transform before my eyes. In nearly a year, they went through the warm autumn sun, the winter frost, the washing of spring rain, and the rinse of summer rain, and changed a great deal in appearance.

This is the first single-head seedling I bought, Voodoo, and now it really is poisonous enough.

The Shao Xiu bouquet I bought last September has now become fully woody, and its color differs in all three seasons of autumn, winter, and summer; it is the most color-changing one among my Aeoniums.

When I bought this Green Velvet, it was a small single head with a ring of pups, and now it is full of children and grandchildren

This one was a free gift from the seller when I bought the Green Velvet, a broken-off head. I still do not know what variety it is, but it has burst with pups, and its color is also very, very fairy-like.

Because at the beginning I could not tell what was European Purple and what was Purple Velvet, I bought entirely by feel. This one was bought from a greenhouse in Ningxia, and now it looks exactly like roses about to bloom.

The three large heads on the upper part are Original Green Law, and the bouquet below is my favorite among all my Halloween, a pup-bursting maniac.

This look of many branches paired with small thick leaves is very cute

Lily Lily should have the thickest and fleshiest leaves among Aeoniums. In winter it is jelly-colored, and in summer it does not lose its dainty, cute charm

A Purple Velvet that had been beheaded and abandoned in a corner by the shop owner; I took it back and grew it into its current rose-bouquet shape

I never used to notice that Sunburst could be so pink and tender. Recently it really is the season when Aeoniums are graceful and elegant

The serrated edges of the leaves of Salad Bowl (Halloween) look crystal clear in the sunlight

Yanzi, which never pups for a thousand years, looks like pieces of precious jade edged in red

A Brilliant with a fully variegated head

The small head of Black Aeonium looks exactly like a noble rose

On the year-and-a-half-long succulent-growing journey, my originally short-tempered nature gradually became calm and peaceful, and my clumsy bad habits have now become very careful. It is probably because I truly put my heart into doing this that I came to like it more and more. From now on, in all things I seek only the two words: wholehearted effort! I used to hate summer, because the heat made me dizzy, but now I love summer, because it is the most beautiful season for Aeoniums!
