Many orchid growers, when growing clivia, often say that theirs is a fake clivia, since it has been grown for a long time and still has not bloomed. Today Hua'er will introduce a method: bury a little "magic oil" for it, so the clivia grows nonstop, with glossy green leaves, and without bud blast.

The growth and flowering of clivia require sufficient nutrients. Today's vegetable oils all contain large amounts of trace elements and oils, which after decomposition can provide rich nutrients for the plant, supporting the growth and flowering of clivia.

Specific method: dig a few holes around the edge of the clivia pot, about 3-5 holes, evenly spaced, about one third deep, just one small spoonful per hole, then cover with soil. After one month, dig another 3-5 holes in different positions and bury once more, then wait 3 months before continuing.

Note that oil decomposes rather slowly, so do not be greedy and use too much each time, and do not let it directly touch the roots, otherwise it will cause root burn. When watering, you can occasionally add a little white sugar, which helps the oil decompose better and promotes absorption by the clivia.

Other daily care for clivia also cannot be ignored:

1. Watering

Clivia has well-developed fleshy roots and a certain degree of drought tolerance, so keeping it half-dry is best. When you see signs of the potting soil turning pale, water thoroughly, but do not let water accumulate, otherwise it will cause leaf spots or root rot. When the air is relatively dry, spray some water around it, or place a basin of water beside it.

2. Light

Clivia can grow better under short-day conditions. Long light, strong light, or long-term shade will all affect flower bud formation. In summer, shade it, and you can build a frame for it with a shading rate of 50%, weakening the light intensity, which is more conducive to its growth and flowering.

3. Day-night temperature difference

When clivia enters its flowering period and bud formation is complete, keeping the day-night temperature difference at 5°C-8°C is more conducive to it sending up its flower stalk.

That is all for clivia care. If fellow flower growers have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comments section below. To learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Huajianke!
