Many vegetable growers in the city like to grow vegetables at home on the balcony. If they have a terrace, rooftop, or yard, they will grow even more vegetables, picking them whenever they want to eat them. Homegrown ones are fresh and delicious, with especially full flavor.

Growing vegetables on the balcony does not necessarily cost money. In fact, as long as you use your head and your hands, you can grow a bumper crop of vegetables yourself.

Soil

If you do not want to buy soil, then go to the fields or vegetable gardens in the countryside and dig some soil back, staying away from construction sites and places with construction waste. Then expose it to the sun for high-temperature sterilization, and it is ready for growing vegetables.

Flower pots

If you do not want to buy pots, just use empty oil drums, old flower pots, or plastic boxes, punch holes in the bottom, and you can grow vegetables.

Seeds

Seeds are also available everywhere. For example, chili seeds: the seeds inside the red chilies we eat can be used.

The seeds inside tomatoes can also be used, as long as the tomatoes are ripe.

For water spinach, you can simply take the stems and root them by cuttings, and they will grow. Sweet potato vines also root and grow from cuttings. And after eating small scallion bulbs, you can keep the roots and replant them.

Fertilizer

If you have no fertilizer, you can compost organic fertilizer yourself using fruit peels, vegetable leaves, and okara.

Put it in an empty oil drum, cover it tightly, and leave it alone. After three months, once it changes color, dilute it with water and pour it on the vegetables. It is both rich and easy to use, and the vegetables grow like crazy.

Harvest

Grow a few chili plants on the balcony, and you can pick ten or more every day, which is more than enough as a seasoning. Grow a few cucumber plants, and every few days you will harvest two, which feels very rewarding.

Growing vegetables yourself is very easy. Give it a try.
