If you ignore your succulents for just 3 more days, they will wither and die, and by then even trying to save them will be difficult.

The temperature has really been changing unpredictably lately, one moment heavy rain, the next bright sunshine, which is simply torture for flowers, let alone the succulents at home! So shade, rain protection and ventilation have become very important parts!

How do succulents get rain protection?

There is a lot of rain in summer. Besides shading, succulents grown outdoors must be protected from rain, otherwise once the succulents at home get rained on and then sit in the sun, it really is like a sauna!

1. Plastic sheeting for rain protection

Make a simple frame from cardboard, cover it with plastic film, leave a hole on one side for ventilation, and seal the frame with plastic sheeting when it rains, so rainwater can be prevented from falling on the succulents.

Small plastic bags can also be used for rain protection.

2. Soft glass crystal board tablecloth

If you are a gardener growing them on an outdoor security window, you can choose to install a soft glass crystal board tablecloth, so that when it rains, the rainwater just runs straight off and will not get on the succulents.

3. Fiberglass daylighting tiles

Besides the methods above, gardeners can also go to a building materials market and buy some fiberglass daylighting tiles, which can both prevent rain and avoid direct sunlight, blocking part of the sunlight.

How do succulents get shade?

If you want succulents to have beautiful colors, you must let them get plenty of sun. But the summer sun is too harsh. If they are placed on the balcony, they have to be moved indoors at noon and moved out again in the morning and evening, which is just too troublesome! So today I will teach everyone a few little tricks!

1. Add a layer of shade net

If you have relatively few succulents at home, use wire and a shade net to make a shade frame, so as to prevent the succulents from getting sunburned.

2. Build a rack for shade

If you have relatively many succulents at home, you can build a rack and cover it with a shade net, thereby increasing the space so that more succulents can fit under the shade net.

3. Birdcage shade net

If you gardeners are clever and handy, you can also do it yourself and bend wire into a birdcage-like shade net, which can not only provide shade but also prevent small birds from pecking and injuring the succulents.

4. Cover with multiple layers of shade net

When the sun is not especially strong yet, you can add one layer of shade net, but when the temperature reaches 40°C, one layer of shade net can no longer block the harsh sunlight. At this time you can add double or multiple layers of shade net, thereby filtering out more sunlight.

How do succulents get ventilation and cooling?

80% of black rot in succulents at home is caused by poor ventilation! So today I will teach everyone a few little tricks for ventilation and cooling!

1. Use a fan

Once the temperature exceeds 30°C, you must use a fan to blow air over the succulents at home, thereby lowering the temperature and preventing the succulents from turning to mush.

2. Use air conditioning

If the temperature has already reached as high as 35°C or even 40°C, then using a fan is no longer very effective. At this time, move the succulents into an indoor air-conditioned room and let them get sun through the glass, or add a grow light, but windows must be opened frequently in the morning and evening for ventilation to prevent black rot.

That is all for today.

These little tricks,

have all you gardeners learned them?
