Making your own potted plants at home is all about easy access to materials, simple steps, and creating a good-looking bonsai. For example: sweet potato potted plants, ginger potted plants, taro potted plants, potato potted plants, and so on, as follows:

1. Sweet potato potted plant

Find a sweet potato, stick a few toothpicks into it so it doesn't wobble in the water, stand it in a bottle of clean water, and put it in a shady spot. Change the water every couple of days until the sweet potato sprouts tender shoots and leaves. You can also add a little nutrient solution to the water so its leaves grow faster. Once the leaves appear, move it to a spot with bright indirect light and let it get some sun. Before long, you'll have a lush homemade bonsai.

2. Taro potted plant

Put sprouted taro from your kitchen into a pot of soil. The soil mix should be loose and airy. Put it in a shady spot and keep the soil moist. After it sprouts, move it to a spot with bright indirect light. With plenty of sunlight, enough water and nutrients, and airy soil, you'll get a handsome taro potted plant! It has a bit of the look of Alocasia macrorrhizos (giant taro), really beautiful!

3. Ginger potted plant

Put sprouted ginger from your kitchen into a pot of soil. The soil should ideally be sandy, loose, airy, and well-draining. The sprouting points should face up and show above the soil surface. Put it in a shady spot, and once ginger shoots grow, give it bright indirect light. It can't take strong direct sun. You'll get a beautiful potted plant similar to lucky bamboo. The ginger shoots have a slight ginger scent and can even drive away mosquitoes!

4. Potato potted plant

Put sprouted potatoes into a pot of soil. You can plant a whole potato, or cut it into several pieces depending on how many sprouting points there are. Don't bury them too deep; the sprouting points should show above the soil surface. Pay attention to temperature and humidity, and move it to bright indirect light once leaves appear. More sun makes the stems and leaves look better. You can apply a little cake fertilizer water. Then you'll have a nice-looking potato potted plant.

5. Carrot potted plant

Cut off the top of a carrot, not too small, and keep a bit of the carrot flesh so it can absorb water. Put it in water, but not too much water; the top of the carrot should be exposed. Pay attention to water quality. After it sprouts, it can get bright indirect light, which keeps the leaves a pretty green. Then you'll have a simple, good-looking carrot potted plant!

All of these potted plants can be grown in water or in soil. What we're making are potted plants grown mainly for their foliage, so we won't worry about the harvest. As long as they look good, that's enough!

Simple, money-saving, and good-looking. Go ahead and give it a try!
