Azaleas belong to the south, so they like acidic soil. When choosing soil, try to pick soil that contains acid, such as pine needles and the like. Only then can you ensure that the acidic substances in the soil are not lacking.

Azaleas like humid air, and they require relatively high air humidity. The air humidity needs to be around above 70 percent for them to grow normally. So you must regularly spray water on azaleas to maintain the highest possible air humidity. During the flowering period, when spraying water on azaleas, try not to spray it onto the flowers and flower buds, as it easily causes flowers and buds to drop. You can use a spray bottle to spray water from the base of the flowers, or spray water around the flower pot, to increase the air humidity.

Regarding light and fertilizing, during the growing season azaleas only need to be given sufficient scattered light. In summer, provide appropriate shading. During the full bloom period, reduce light as much as possible so the flowering period can last longer. A supply of dilute fertilizer water 2-3 times a month is essential. Stop fertilizing in summer, shade more than 70%, and in autumn switch to watering with potassium dihydrogen phosphate, about three times or so, to increase the number and quality of blooms.

To grow azaleas well, high humidity, sufficient water, scattered light, and loose, breathable acidic soil are the keys to growing azaleas well!
