Pennywort is easy to grow, and it will grow back even after you cut it all the way down, so grow it this summer

Pennywort not only has a name with a very auspicious meaning, its tiny leaves are also especially cute, and it is also famously easy to grow, but there are times when we get careless, and with one small slip its leaves can easily wilt completely as if they have rotted, so today Huahua will tell everyone how to deal with this situation!

A few days ago Huahua bought a pot of pennywort and was in a great mood, so I planned to grow it hydroponically. But a few days later, because I forgot to add water in time, by the time I noticed, all the leaves had already wilted and drooped. I had originally planned to throw it away when I saw it like that, but suddenly noticed its roots were still fine, so on a whim I gave it a "beheading", and unexpectedly it has now sprouted lots of new shoots!

If you have also run into this situation, then hurry up and follow along with Huahua to learn about it. The premise for using this method of "beheading" pennywort is to make sure its roots are intact, but if you find that the roots have all rotted away, then you really can give up on it!

First we need to take the pennywort out of the pot, then use scissors to cut off all those wilted leaves. It is best to trim a bit lower down, as long as you do not damage the roots. While we are at it, we can also tidy up its roots, because due to the water quality there are sure to be some yellowed, softened roots and stems below, and to keep them from continuing to contaminate things, we need to clean those up too.

When cleaning, since these roots and stems have already become especially soft, we can just put on gloves and pull them off. Using scissors is first of all very inconvenient, and also if you damage those good roots it is more trouble than it is worth!

Once it is dealt with, you can repot it. We can continue with the hydroponic method, or if you are worried that hydroponics will cause problems again, you can switch to growing it in soil.

For hydroponics, you need to put it in a hydroponic container, then pour in water (best left to sit out beforehand), because at this point the pennywort only has roots left, so the water level should just cover the roots, then place it in a bright, well-ventilated spot, and within a few days you will find that it has sprouted lots of new shoots, which means your operation was a success! While you are celebrating, do not forget to add water regularly, otherwise it really will be as if you saved it for nothing!

If we want to switch to growing it in soil, that is also fine. When planting, choose soil with somewhat better drainage, and do not plant it too deep, just covering it with a layer of soil is enough, so that later it will grow new leaves faster.

During this period we need to put it in a cool, well-ventilated spot, and also keep the soil moist. Because the weather is getting hotter and hotter now, we can use a spray bottle to mist the surface of the soil, so there is no need to worry about watering too much. After about three days you will be able to see its new leaves poking out! You cannot help but marvel that pennywort's vitality really is tenacious!

Although the pennywort has now survived, we need to take even better care of it later on. It is best placed in a ventilated spot without direct sunlight, but comfortable sunlight can make its leaves even more glossy and green!

You should know that plants commonly called easy to grow are only relatively strong in vitality, and that does not mean we can just buy them and then ignore them completely. Care for them often and let them feel that they have a presence, and only then will they have the motivation to grow!
