Right now is a good season for taking bougainvillea cuttings, and many flower growers want a good cutting method, and so do I. As a beginner, I still haven't found an ideal cutting method, only some lessons learned, so let's just chat about it.

Taking bougainvillea cuttings is also a systematic project: from selecting the cuttings, using rooting hormone, and mixing the substrate, to controlling the temperature, humidity and moisture during rooting, every single thing needs to be considered thoroughly. If even one condition is not met, it will affect the survival rate.

There are many different cutting methods, each with its own pros and cons. There is no perfect method, only universal principles for taking cuttings. With the same method, different people get very different survival rates, and the reason lies in not having mastered the cutting conditions well. Therefore, I suggest flower growers focus their attention on how to meet the environmental conditions for cuttings, rather than trying to find the best cutting method.

Pay special attention to the following points:

1. Temperature 15-30°C, and it is best if the soil temperature can be slightly higher than the air temperature.

2. Keep humidity moderate; it is not that the higher the better. High temperature and high humidity make it very easy to contract disease, so pay attention to ventilation.

3. Keep the substrate moisture just moist; it must not be too wet.
