How to hang geraniums over summer so they get through it safely without black stems and bloom into balls of flowers

The geraniums I used to grow would, halfway through summer, basically develop black stems and then rot away and die. The reason is simple: the pots were placed on the ground, and under the sun the heat reflected off the concrete was too great, keeping the potted flowers baking in high temperatures for long periods. Some flowers that like cool conditions could not take it, and one after another they started showing problems, some of them dying as a result.

Last year I had 8 pots of regal pelargoniums and 2 pots of zonal geraniums, and I tried hanging them up on a south-facing terrace. This way the sun was strong, but so was the wind; once hung up they had ventilation on all sides, and the heat under the sunlight would dissipate at any moment. Although it was in strong light, the temperature was actually not extremely high.

I used rather small plastic pots for growing them. The water I gave in the morning would be dried out by noon, so they went on being sunned in the afternoon; the geranium plants were rather dry and wilted, and I did not water again until the next morning. Strangely, so far not one of them has had a problem, and they are still blooming continuously, only the flowers are a bit smaller than those in spring and autumn. It is now late August, the weather is turning cooler, and it should count as having got through summer safely.

This successful method can be called the "hanging geraniums over summer method." This year, fellow flower growers can give it a try. Other flowers that like to get through summer in cool conditions can also follow this example.
