Lotus Seed Planting Method and Detailed Steps

The huge leaves and flowers of the lotus are as beautiful as something out of a myth. You can grow these amazing large aquatic plants from seed. The process requires patience.
Soak the seeds in a small container just covered with water. Carefully change the water several times a day until the seeds split and green shoots grow out. On average it takes about five days before the small green shoots begin to appear. At this point, move the new shoots into bright light to continue growing.
Once the germinated seeds have grown to 3 to 5 cm, gently place them into a few centimeters of clay at the bottom of a large container, such as a bucket or a plastic milk jug with the top cut off, so that when the seedlings grow larger they will not be difficult to move and damage the seedlings.
When small floating leaves form. The water level should be kept at least 10 to 15 cm above the top of the soil.
In winter the plant usually goes dormant for a period, so do not think it has died. Wait until spring arrives and they will begin to grow again, so be patient.
