Orchids are one of the top ten famous flowers in our country. They like acidic soil and shadier spots, and cannot be placed in direct sunlight. The orchid soil must also be kept moist regularly, with proper fertilizing and good air circulation. Regarding fertilizing, let me quietly tell orchid lovers that orchids also like to "drink" beer. Many people would never guess that some plants also like to "drink" beer, right?

Beer is itself a fermented product, containing large amounts of carbon dioxide, sugar, protein and other nutrients. Drinking beer in moderation has a certain nutritional effect on people, and orchids can also convert the nutritional value in beer into their own energy. Used properly, it can make orchids grow vigorously and keep their leaf color bright with good ornamental value. Beer contains abundant organic substances, and these organic substances are directly absorbed and utilized by orchid roots. When beer enters the soil, it can be converted into humic acid and other effective components, improving soil fertility. Beer has a very good effect on changing the acidic and rotting nature of soil. Beer is not only suitable for orchids; many flowers can use it too, but the method must be proper. If there is leftover beer at home used to grow orchids, it can also be considered making the best use of everything.

Using beer to grow flowers: besides the fact that beer can provide certain nutrients, we mainly consider whether the acidity and alkalinity of beer is suitable for flower growth. The pH value of beer is generally 4.0-4.4, which is acidic. The suitable pH value for orchid growth is 5.5-6.8. From this we can see that using beer to grow orchids is slightly too acidic, exceeding the pH range for orchid growth. So if you want to use beer to grow flowers, it must first be treated and then used.

Watering orchids with beer. When drinking beer, pour some leftover beer directly into the flowerpot, then immediately pour on some water, saving the step of mixing the two. The ratio of beer to water does not need to be controlled deliberately; a beer-to-water ratio of about 1:5 is fine. As for some flower lovers

who say that pouring beer directly on orchids without opening it and letting it sit for a while will burn the roots, I think this is completely unnecessary, because beer is already fully fermented. The frequency of pouring is quite casual. Sometimes once every half a month, sometimes once every month or more, or even longer, all are fine.

Another method is to mix beer with water and spray it directly on orchid leaves, with a water-to-beer ratio of about 1:1. This is equivalent to foliar feeding. It is recommended to spray once every few days. This method noticeably improves leaf quality. Before long, orchid leaves become dark green and luscious, glossy and shining.

After the orchids regain their vitality, we can reduce the number of times we use beer. As long as the nutrients for normal orchid growth are maintained, that is enough. At this time, beer for watering the roots can be used once every few months, and foliar spraying can be used once every month or more. This should be adjusted appropriately according to the growth condition of the orchids.

A special reminder to orchid lovers: do not let orchids "drink alcohol" for a long time. Orchids can get drunk too, and this will cause root rot. Be sure to maintain ventilation and proper light.
