Roses are a very sun-loving plant. If there is not enough light, it is very difficult to get them to bloom every month. In general, as long as you grasp the following key points, you can keep roses blooming every month. Don't ask why, have you remembered these essential care tips?

Roses are sun-loving, cold-tolerant and fertilizer-tolerant plants. In a well-lit, well-ventilated environment they are not prone to powdery mildew or brown spot. In summer roses grow vigorously, bloom continuously, and the flowers are brightly colored and glossy. Therefore, to grow roses well, you must master the methods of rose care.

1. Cuttings and pruning

Plant them in early spring before the buds sprout. Roses have very strong vitality. If you want to grow another plant, you can cut a branch of about 10-15 cm from the rose, then insert it into a small flowerpot or a nutrient pot. First place it in a spot with a temperature of around 20 degrees and weak light to grow in the shade for several days. After it takes root and sprouts, transplant it into a large flowerpot. In spring, before planting large plants, prune hard, which can form an appropriate number of flowering branches and a graceful shape. Because roses bloom on new branches grown in the current year, to keep roses growing vigorously you must keep pruning and promptly thin out the side buds; this allows nutrients to be supplied in a concentrated way to the main bud, making the flowers large and brightly colored. After May, each time a plant finishes blooming, cut away 2/3 or 1/2 of the branch that has flowered. Immediately seal the wounds caused by pruning with healing and anti-corrosion membrane to prevent the wounds from drying and cracking and from pest and disease damage, and to promote the rapid growth of callus tissue.

2. Watering

There is skill to watering roses: you should water when dry and let them be wet, do not water when not dry, and when you water, water thoroughly. Roses are afraid of being waterlogged, so there must be no standing water in the pot; too much water easily causes root rot. In the height of summer, water once a day, and water when the surface of the potting soil turns white. During the winter dormant period, be sure to water less and keep the soil half moist. Watering roses varies with the season. During the winter dormant period, keep the soil moist, just do not let it dry out completely. If there is not enough water, the root system will be in dry, hot soil, the physiological functions of the roots will be inhibited, and it will easily cause the branches and leaves to wilt and the leaf edges to scorch, affecting autumn flowering. While watering fully, also pay attention to providing appropriate shade around noon and sprinkling water on the surrounding ground to lower the temperature.

3. Fertilizer

Fertilize frequently and in a timely manner: after May is the peak growing season for roses. Every 10 days, apply topdressing once, and stop fertilizing in November. At the same time, spraying Duo Duo Zhuang Di Ling at the appropriate time during the rose growing period can make the flower buds strong, the petals plump, the flower color bright, the fragrance rich and the flowering period longer. During the growing season, water with dilute fertilizer water once every ten days. No matter which fertilizer you use, remember not to use too much, to prevent fertilizer damage that harms the seedlings.

4. Pruning

In winter, keep them indoors with at least 6 hours of light every day. At the Start of Winter, they naturally go dormant. After the leaves fall, keep only 5 cm of each branch, and cut off all branches above 5 cm. At a temperature below 5 degrees C they enter the dormant period and stop growing. Dormant-period pruning is best done at the end of dormancy when growth has stopped. At this time the potting soil should be on the dry side, but it must not be too dry, to prevent drying to death.

For dormant-period pruning, for roses more than two years old, mainly cut off dead branches, diseased and pest-infested branches and crossing branches from the base, and spray insecticide to prevent disease. Roses have many pests and diseases. From spring to autumn, they are constantly invaded by many kinds of pests and diseases that harm young leaves and flower buds, so prevention and control must be carried out in time, but winter prevention and control is the key.

In December, during the dormant period, apply decomposed organic fertilizer to help them overwinter. In winter plowing, you can apply human waste or spread decomposed organic fertilizer, then turn it into the soil. During the growing period, fertilize frequently. After the flowers fade, apply topdressing with quick-acting fertilizer 1-2 times. In high temperature and drought, apply thin fertilizer. Apply the last fertilization before winter. Before fertilizing, also pay attention to promptly removing weeds.

To grow roses, pay attention to remembering the essential "tips", and they will bloom every month. That is all for this sharing. I hope it is helpful to friends who love growing flowers. If you have better suggestions, you are welcome to leave a comment below.
