What causes a night-blooming cereus not to bloom
1. Apply phosphorus fertilizer
1. Reason: because nitrogen fertilizer can promote the growth of the plant's branches, and as one waxes the other wanes, when the branches grow well, the nutrients are inevitably used on the branches and leaves, so the nutrients available for the flowers will be much less.
2. Solution: apply less nitrogen fertilizer before blooming, and use potassium fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer to promote blooming. Phosphorus fertilizer also has another effect, which is that it can make the flowers bloom beautifully and large.
2. Supplement light
1. Reason: for it, one essential requirement for blooming is having enough nutrients; however, when there is insufficient light, the plant produces nutrients on its own with difficulty, so it is also very hard for it to bloom.
2. Solution: place it in a spot with better light, and then the flowers will bloom relatively well. But note that it must not be placed in an especially sun-scorched spot, otherwise the plant will be scorched and wither or even die.
3. Control watering
1. Reason: if it is watered especially much, it will cause it to rot or even die, and then there will be problems with blooming.
2. Solution: before blooming, watering needs to be reduced; in particular, be sure to control watering well in late August, and keep the soil in a relatively dry condition. But at ordinary times, you can still spray some water on its leaves, and then the flowers will grow better.
