As the saying goes, no one is a sage, so who can be without fault. Here, I also want to say, no one is a god, so who never gets sick? Who can guarantee that their life will always be smooth sailing? This is true of people, let alone orchids.

Friends who love growing orchids all know that their journey in growing flowers is not always sunny. Even orchid experts sometimes run into difficulties with orchids, more or less. This is perfectly normal, because people are not gods after all.

However, as orchid growers, in the process of growing orchids, they believe that the two most important aspects of orchid growing are caring for orchid roots and disinfecting. Because we all know that plants are silent things, and only the care of the orchid grower can make the orchid something you can appreciate. So orchid growers have summed it up in this sentence: If you grow orchids without disinfecting, pathogens will invade; do the prevention early, and your orchids will have a place to belong.

Today, let us share and discuss orchid disinfection together. Disinfection is divided into two aspects. The first is disinfecting the orchid growing medium. We usually use carbendazim mixed with an appropriate amount of clean water to thoroughly spray and disinfect the mixed orchid growing medium, then let the orchid growing medium dry. The second is to soak about 30 cigarette butts in water for 24 hours and spray it to disinfect the orchid growing medium, then let it dry before potting. This method can keep orchids free from pests and diseases.

The other aspect is disinfecting the orchids themselves. Before potting the orchids, we need to carry out a thorough disinfection treatment on the orchids. The specific method is: thoroughly prune the orchid's empty shells, dead leaves, or damaged orchid roots. After that, use carbendazim mixed with water to spray and disinfect, and then sun the orchid roots. Here, it should be noted that sunning orchid roots does not mean placing them in direct sunlight to bake, but choosing diffused sunlight to sun the roots.

If you can do this in orchid growing, I dare to guarantee that the orchids will not be invaded by pathogens. As long as you ensure the growing medium is loose and breathable, know how to water the orchids, and let the orchids have a good place to belong, there will be no problem at all. If you grow orchids, just wait until next year when the orchids burst into a full pot, and then divide them!
