Because of succulents I have made many good friends. With one succulent friend in the same city, we chat for a while almost every night. In 3 years of growing succulents I have studied more diligently than I did at school. Love them well, and both succulents and flowers will repay you in the most beautiful way.
This year peach eggs (Graptopetalum amethystinum) got much cheaper, which basically fulfilled my dream of a peach grove, so I bought several dozen at once.
Guiyang is a city without summer. During the dog days we still need blankets when we sleep at night. In summer there is no need for shade, but it is a city with very little sun, and in winter we often go a whole month without seeing the sun. In winter the building opposite also blocks the sun, so my succulents can never reach their ultimate state. Even the greenhouse owners here have moved away to Yunnan.
Many people say growing succulents cultivates the mind, and I am one who has experienced this too. If I can be this patient with succulents, what trouble can there be that I cannot get past? All worries pass with a smile.
My family's support is my greatest motivation
I have no fancy words, but I have a warm heart. If you love your succulents, they will repay you in a beautiful way; if you love your family, they will love you more than they love themselves.
Keeping a smile often probably keeps you young. Stay true to yourself.
I once read a book that said most fatigue comes from mental factors; fatigue truly caused by physical exertion is very rare. Growing succulents helps you relax. Tension is a habit, and relaxation is a habit too.
In the year I first fell into the hobby I crazily bought succulents and pots. Now I buy less, perhaps because I have no place to put them. The ultimate goal of growing succulents is to have a yard and a terrace, and he is working hard toward that.
If our thoughts are happy, then we are happy; if everything in our mind is miserable, we will become miserable.
Posting photos is easy, with no practical tips and no chicken soup...
Let's talk about care! Many beginners ask about soil mixes and watering. If you had studied carefully when you first got into the hobby, you would not come asking questions. Everyone develops their own experience and habits. Every home environment is different and every climate is different. My soil mix is very casual: various grits plus peat, grabbed by handfuls.
A little peach grove
Cream Berry, Ruby
Graptopetalum mendozae
Green Bear (Kalanchoe tomentosa)
Ice Plum (Echeveria 'Ice Plum')
Lemon Berry
Gemini Berry
Peach (Echeveria 'Peach')
Qiluo, Luoqi
Vanilla that has sprouted many heads
Dance of the Evening Glow (Echeveria 'Afterglow')
Jade Butterfly (Graptoveria 'Jade Butterfly'), it has been sick 2 times, I hope this time it can live strong.
First time growing strawberries, they taste really good, maybe because I grew them, haha.
I have always been very fond of Aeoniums, layer upon layer, but the limits of the balcony have kept them from showing their beauty. This time I planted them together in a big pot and put them outside for open-air growing, looking forward to them being beautiful in autumn. Being able to see Brother Su Jun's Aeoniums every day is also a kind of enjoyment, he is the spokesman for Aeoniums.
A 50cm long hanging rack, my photography skills are poor so I cannot capture it all.
More than a year later I posted and someone still said, I know this Aeonium of yours, why has it not grown? Putting this on the railing is too dangerous, and close to the inside of the balcony the light is not enough, so it barely grows at all.
Green Velvet (Aeonium 'Green Velvet')
Taken at 6 in the morning, a bit dark.
The peach egg in the thumb pot has been kept compact for 2 years and has not grown at all.
A doll pot goes even better with a doll.
Pinwheel and Ivory, Miss Enko is peeking at the succulents.
Orange Monroe (Echeveria 'Orange Monroe')
Pink Beauty, Nana, Peach Egg
A small pot my friend helped me snap up, isn't it lucky to have a friend like that!
The balcony flower racks were all made by my husband. The first attempt was not ideal in many places. Only this one was made by me. The wood was picked up from the renovation of a shop downstairs.
The swing my husband made
As long as it is not winter, we usually eat here. Occasionally I make some snacks, squeeze a glass of juice, listen to music. This is my paradise. One table, one lounge chair.
A dream from several years ago, and now even a small balcony satisfies me.
I am a person easily satisfied materially; having enough to use and enough to spend is enough. The meaning of budgeting is not to wipe out all the fun from life, but to give us material security and freedom from worry.
If we cannot improve our financial situation, then we can improve our mindset.
When lonely and alone, of course we need to socialize with those who share our interests, but the premise is: you need to extend the hand of friendship first.
Happiness does not come from others' charity, but from winning others' need and love for you yourself. This move I went through a family upheaval, and besides my husband's love, the succulents also accompanied me in my loneliness.
