Famous lines praising orchids: Through all the ages, this flower stands pure and steadfast, seeking no fame, only mist and rosy clouds.

Orchids have been cherished from ancient times to the present, with a vast number of varieties, diverse flower forms, and elegant flowers and leaves.

An orchid born in a silent valley

Originally the fragrance of kings, its roots resting in the empty valley.

Before spring it sends up clusters of flowers, fresh branches as if newly bathed.

To dwell with the virtuous is like entering a room of irises and orchids,

and after long, one no longer smells their fragrance, for one has become one with it.

Clusters of huicao grass along the water's edge, deep green leaves half ready to screen.

Most of all where the clear breeze brushes past, one tender jade stem with nine branches of flowers.

With one pot in the room, fragrance overflows all around.
