Introduction

Potted plants are essential accents for home life, they beautify the room and lift the spirits. Keeping some flowers and plants at home has many benefits. "Flower Sound Potted Plant Diary · Issue 1028" introduces you to a flower suitable for summer growing.

Today's star

Happy Children's Day. Time has entered June, summer is here, and next many potted plants will enter the "hard-to-survive-summer" stage, so there are not many varieties to choose from for growing flowers now. The flower introduced today is called Dipladenia, a new type of ornamental flower that loves light; the hotter the weather, the more beautiful the blooms, and it is suitable for planting in June.

Dipladenia

Seeing this picture, you may find it unbelievable: a single plant bearing flowers of two colours. This is exactly what Dipladenia is most praised for. It can bloom with both pink and red flowers at the same time, beautiful and festive, and so it is also called "Double Happiness Vine". It is a climbing plant: wherever it climbs, the flowers bloom there, and it is hailed as the "Queen of Tropical Climbing Flowers", able to hold its own against clematis.

Extremely long flowering period

Dipladenia not only has beautiful flowers but also a very long flowering period. In its natural state, apart from winter, it blooms in all the other seasons, with peak bloom in summer and autumn. The hotter the weather, the more brilliant the flowers, and the blooms can even outnumber the leaves, drawing the eye extraordinarily. Grown in a pot in a greenhouse, as long as there is enough light, it will bloom continuously through all four seasons.

Easy care

Dipladenia has very strong adaptability; plants from the tropics all have strong vitality, and cultivation is very easy. Take Dipladenia, for example: take a section of stem and stick it into potting soil, keep it moist, and in about 7-15 days it will root and sprout, becoming a new plant. Daily care is even easier than for pothos and spider plant, with minimal management. The drawback is that it is not cold-tolerant; in northern regions it must spend winter indoors, while south of the Yangtze River it can basically be grown outdoors without problems.

Worth having

Dipladenia grows very fast and can become a large plant in one year. It is strongly vining: wherever it climbs, flowers bloom there. It is excellent material for vertical greening, and can decorate flower walls, flower columns, arches, fences and more, with superb accent effects. It is also no problem as a balcony potted plant: make a support to guide it up to the window or security grille, and by summer and autumn the balcony becomes a garden. It is very much worth having.
