As lung cancer rises to become one of the most dangerous diseases for humanity, many people turn pale at the mention of "cancer," feel panicked, and naturally seek out the causes and preventive measures. In the existing statistics on the causes of lung cancer, six major causes have been identified, the first being smoking, followed by environmental factors, air pollution, occupational factors, internal factors of the body, and chronic lung diseases.

Most lung cancers parasitize the bronchial mucosal epithelium, becoming a malignant expansion of uncontrolled cell growth within lung tissue, and can also metastasize or invade adjacent tissues to form new malignant growths. In all lung cancers, there are varying degrees of highly acidic substances from cigarettes that cause the body to become acidic and induce cancer. This is caused by the strong carcinogenic activity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines in cigarettes.

Environmental factors include the presence of strong radioactive elements, such as the world-renowned high cancer incidence areas of Gejiu and Xuanwei in Yunnan, China, where carcinogens such as radon, tin, arsenic, and toluene exist, making the cancer rate in this region climb to the highest; air pollution such as smog, industrial exhaust, and traffic emissions all contain large amounts of the carcinogen benzopyrene, raising the lung cancer rate.

Occupational factors refer to long-term exposure at work to radioactive substances and derivatives such as uranium and radium, and carcinogenic hydrogen compounds, arsenic, coal tar, chromium, nickel, copper, tin, iron, petroleum, mustard gas, asphalt, asbestos, and so on, all of which become invisible carcinogens. There is also the change in people's dietary habits that leads to body acidification, decreased immune function, and induced cell carcinogenesis.

Although cancer itself is not directly inherited, a weakened immune function, metabolic activity, and endocrine disorders can be inherited; this reduced defense capability gives cancer an opportunity to develop; chronic lung diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis, silicosis, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis are easily transformed into cancer, which is already widely known and needs no further explanation.
