Rubber plant leaves are glossy, and it gets plenty of fertilizer and water, yet the leaves still rot - the real culprit is this

A few days ago, a gardening friend sent me a photo asking why his rubber plant's leaves were rotting. Xiao Qi is sharing it with everyone so that if you run into this situation in the future, you'll know how to prevent and treat it. The rubber plant's leaves were glossy and shiny, and it wasn't lacking fertilizer or water, which proves it was being cared for very well, but the leaves started to rot and turn yellow. Xiao Qi will explain what causes this yellowing and how to treat it, hoping to help everyone. The yellowing of the leaves is not the normal yellowing of old leaves aging, but a rotting-type yellowing. This disease is one of the most common diseases that rubber plants suffer from - leaf blight. Indoor temperatures being too low, the rubber plant being placed in a spot with poor light, and poor ventilation - these 3 causes are the main reasons for this situation occurring. Xiao Qi will explain the treatment method.
In winter, indoor ventilation is naturally poor. If you use a tall pot that doesn't breathe for planting, the potting soil dries out very slowly. If you water in winter when the temperature doesn't reach the growing temperature, and you use a large pot for planting - the rubber plant's root system is very well developed, and going a whole winter without watering is no problem at all; even waiting until early spring to water is no problem. The solution is to check whether the plant at the soil surface has any rot. If not, place the rubber plant in a bright spot with good light, and cut off all leaves with rotten spots - it must be all of them. If you have thiophanate-methyl on hand, mix it with water at 1:1000 and spray; if not, you can use carbendazim mixed with water at 1:800 and spray. Stop watering, and spraying 2-3 times can effectively stop it. In early spring, it's best to change the potting soil for it. Potting soil with very poor breathability - first, it dries slowly, and second, watering doesn't penetrate thoroughly; the bottom is either dry or constantly waterlogged. Growing it well is what really matters.
