Sowing clivia seeds is actually very simple - sow them this way and they will all survive

Hello everyone, today I will talk about how to sow clivia seeds. First, let me talk about how to choose seeds,
When we sow clivia, it is best to choose relatively fresh seeds, ideally ones that have just been harvested, the kind that are plump and slightly translucent - those are the best. Never use dry seeds; the germination rate of dry seeds is almost zero
It is best to get the kind that are shipped still attached to the seed pod, as those are the easiest to germinate. The reason they do not sprout is simply that you chose the wrong seeds
So how should we plant them? Generally, when planting in a greenhouse, people choose wood shavings, because wood shavings do not rot easily - even if soaked in water for two months, they still do not rot easily. Another point is that wood shavings have no bacteria
This is because clivia takes a relatively long time from sowing to germination, about 50 days. If there are bacteria in the soil during this process, the seeds will easily rot
After germination, they will grow very fast. This pot of mine is about three months old
I chose the large-particle type of peat soil. Before planting, I scalded it with boiling water, then soaked it with carbendazim. As long as there are no bacteria, it is fine
When planting the seeds, we need to pay attention: the seed has a growth point, and the growth point should face downward, because the roots emerge from the growth point and grow down into the soil. After planting, cover evenly with about 1 cm of soil - just a thin layer to cover the seeds is enough. Do not cover too deeply, otherwise it will not germinate easily
After planting, water directly, and when you see the potting soil dry out, spray with water
Generally, in the first year it grows to three or four leaves, and in the second year to five or six leaves. This small seedling will keep growing leaves continuously. Once it becomes a mature plant, it grows four leaves each year and sheds two leaves each year - this is all normal
