Friends who love growing flowers all enjoy propagating them by hand, and turning one pot into many pots brings such a sense of accomplishment. Roses (Rosa chinensis) are a common flowering potted plant and are much loved.

Propagating roses is also very simple. My neighbor Brother Wang propagates roses with this method: roots in 10 days, 1 plant becomes 10 pots in 30 days. So enviable!

When growing roses, remember the rule of three parts care and seven parts pruning. So normally you may prune off weak-growing branches, parallel branches, inward-facing branches, and so on. The cut branches should not go to waste either. Brother Wang used exactly these branches to propagate 10 pots in one month, with an extremely high survival rate, until the balcony was completely full!

Vermiculite is an excellent rooting medium for cuttings, and it is cheap: a few yuan gets you a big bag, enough for several uses. He used vermiculite to root his cuttings.

You can prepare a few disposable transparent plastic cups or flower pots with drainage holes, fill them with vermiculite, and place the vermiculite on a tray. Then pour a shallow layer of water into the tray. Insert the cut rose branches into the vermiculite and place them in a bright spot with indirect light.

Roots appear in about 7 days, and by 10 days the roots can grow to 5-8 cm, so you can then move them into pots! With this method you can propagate ten or twenty plants at a time, and the survival rate can reach over 90%.

The propagation cost is also very low, simple and practical! Now is also a good season for propagation. Friends who like taking cuttings can give it a try; if you miss it, you will have to wait another year!
