An air conditioner that has been out of use for a year will be put back into service in the summer. An air conditioner that has not been used for a year cannot be used directly; first we need to clean it thoroughly, so as to ensure health and hygiene. Surveys and tests by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences show that an unclean air conditioner blows out at least tens of thousands of dust mites. When an air conditioner has not been used for a long time, or after it has been used for a fairly long period, a large amount of dust and grime accumulates on the filter mesh, the cooling fins and the air outlet roller. This dust not only breeds harmful bacteria and affects our health, but the odour it produces also seriously affects air quality. But in summer, paying someone to clean it is expensive and troublesome, and it needs to be cleaned several times a year. Summer is here, so before you start using the air conditioner, hurry up and give it a thorough cleaning! Still foolishly paying someone to clean your air conditioner? A professional technician teaches you how to do it, making your air conditioner look brand new!

1. Unplug the power. This step is very important. No matter whether the air conditioner is switched off or not, you must unplug the power before cleaning, and then open the air conditioner casing.

2. Take out the air filter meshes; generally there is one on each side. Then use a brush to scrub them completely clean.

3. Although the air conditioner filter meshes have been cleaned, the real focus of cleaning the indoor unit is actually the evaporator behind the filter mesh. If the filter mesh has not been cleaned for one or two years, then the evaporator may be more seriously contaminated. First you need to prepare a spray bottle and a small soft brush. Use the spray bottle to spray a small amount of water onto the surface of the evaporator, then use the soft brush to gently brush along the direction in which the evaporator fins are arranged. After brushing off the dust, spray water again with the spray bottle to remove the dust on the surface.

Take out the small tube attached to the bottle of cleaning agent and insert it onto the nozzle. Spray evenly back and forth from left to right onto the aluminium heat-transfer fins and the surface of the coil on the evaporator fins, making sure the cleaning foam completely covers the surface of the evaporator. After about 15 minutes, the foam cleaner has fully penetrated and reacted, thoroughly breaking down the stubborn grime on the air conditioner evaporator fins.

4. Finally, after everything has been cleaned, reinstall the dust filter meshes and put the air conditioner casing back on. Then dip a soft cloth in warm water and gently wipe the air conditioner panel and the air outlet vanes. Reconnect the air conditioner to the power supply, install the filter meshes and put the air conditioner cover back on, open the window, and let the air conditioner run in cooling mode for about 20-30 minutes to clean away the dust and bacteria on the cooling fins.

Finally, get a clean damp towel and wipe down the outside of the wall-mounted air conditioner unit. It is very simple. The whole cleaning job is done! So, still foolishly paying someone to clean your air conditioner? A professional technician teaches you how to do it, making your air conditioner look brand new!
