Are potted China pinks easy to grow? They bloom from midsummer to late autumn and can survive as long as there is sunlight

The potted China pink, a perennial herbaceous plant, is native to all corners of China and is one of our country's traditional flowers. But I prefer to call it by its other name, Xiuzhu (embroidered bamboo), simply because its rich and softly blended colors are like the elegant embroidery that a skilled Jiangnan woman stitches on an embroidery frame, suffused with a subtle, classical beauty.
The China pink, also called shiju, shiyangjing, zhujiehua and so on, with the double-flowered types also known as Luoyang hua, is an annual, biennial or perennial herbaceous flowering plant in the carnation family. Every year in May, after the spring flowers have faded one by one, during those almost flowerless days, the China pink comes into full bloom, and naturally stands out.
As a potted plant, among many well-known flowers, the China pink is not considered especially beautiful, and it has no unusual appearance. Its pale petals, five joined together, have jagged outer edges, while a small part of the inner edge is darker, forming a regular circle, as if there were another layer of small petals. The five jagged little petals spread out completely, releasing everything without reservation.
Its stems stand upright one by one, and the nodes of the stems swell slightly, just like bamboo nodes, while the leaves also look very much like bamboo leaves, only smaller. This is probably the origin of the name "China pink" (shizhu, stone bamboo). Though not considered a beautiful potted China pink, it has great character. The edges of the petals are usually wrapped in a ring of plain white, which keeps it from being showy no matter how vivid its colors are. In its simplicity there is a touch of fortitude, and in its prettiness a touch of persistence.
As for the colors of the China pink, deep pink and light pink are the most common, and it can be said that each flower has its own posture and appearance, with a riot of colors. There are red, pink, white and yellow, all kinds, brilliant and colorful. Single petals are beautiful, and double petals are even more beautiful. Its flowers can bloom continuously from spring all the way to autumn.
In memory, they can grow anywhere, poking their heads out from the cracks between bricks to bask in the sun or dancing in the wind on earthen walls covered with weeds, and they can also chat and glance about in flower pots. Those who often go into the mountains and fields will surely see this flower, right by the roadside, on barren hillsides, because its vitality is very strong.
The potted China pink is cold-resistant and drought-resistant, but just not very tolerant of extreme summer heat, so it needs appropriate shading in summer. For daily watering, master the principle of "do not water until dry, better dry than wet", keep the potting soil on the drier side, and there must be no standing water at the bottom of the pot. Watering once every ten days to half a month is enough, making it very easy to care for.
