Two-tone oxalis

Generally speaking, two-tone oxalis is a general term; what flower enthusiasts usually mean when they talk about growing oxalis is usually the strawberry ice cream variety of oxalis. A rough introduction to oxalis: there are currently known to be hundreds to thousands of varieties and flower colors. Most individuals are small and very suitable for small potted plants. Most oxalis are bulbous, such as the well-known Furong, Meihua, and Dabing. A small number are bulbous with scales, such as Ziwu and Yinwu. There are also a few tuberous-rooted ones and some perennial herbaceous ones. Most oxalis are grown for their flowers. One flower stalk bears one flower or several flowers. A tiny bulb can produce a great many flowers. A few others, such as spotted-leaf and golden-vein types, have very attractive leaves, while their flowers are instead inconspicuous. The well-known Huangmazi, by contrast, has fragrant flowers. There are also double-petaled flowers, such as the now relatively widespread yellow double, white double, purple double, and pink double, which are relatively rare in China. Bulbous oxalis all go dormant, while scaled-bulb types such as Ziwu and Yinwu generally do not go dormant; they only stop growing and bloom less in the hottest or coldest seasons. Dormant oxalis are divided according to their time of awakening. They can be divided into spring-planted and autumn-planted. Most oxalis are autumn-planted; they begin to wake up in autumn and sprout small shoots, and at this time they can be planted. A small number wake up and sprout in spring to begin planting, such as Iron Cross, G4, and Maorui.
