Many friends find that most of the jasmine they buy from flower markets develops dry, withered leaves. Some plants look fine at first, but after just a few days they start failing. This is mainly because sellers add growth agents to the plants to promote growth, so when we buy plants and flowers at flower markets, they all look very fresh and bright. If the flowers bloom reasonably well at first, we do not need to worry yet. After all, we bought it to enjoy the flowers. Once the flowers fade, we can repot it and continue caring for it. Do not be afraid when jasmine has dry branches and withered leaves. Here is how to help it recover quickly!

First, we need to prune the jasmine. Remove the spent flower buds, and cut off the excess branches as well. Since it was just bought, there are sure to be quite a few branches, and some dead branches should be pruned too. This allows the nutrients we previously provided to be fully absorbed instead of wasted.

Then we can use loess from gardens or garden soil from the neighborhood mixed with pond mud, both are fine. This mix is used because the soil is relatively loose and fertile. As for the old soil, we rinse away some of the compacted soil with water to reduce damage to the root system.

Next, the important part is potting. We should choose a breathable clay pot. Put the soil we mixed earlier at the bottom. If conditions allow, friends can also place some organic fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, such as homemade fish bones or melon and fruit peels, etc. Of course, adding nitrogen fertilizer directly is also fine. Hold the jasmine plant upright, spread the roots out over the surface of the potting soil, gradually fill the pot with soil, make sure to press it firm, and then start watering.

Finally, we use a large plastic bag. Place wooden sticks around the pot and put the plastic bag over them, then poke a few holes in the top of the bag and put it in a cool, ventilated place. Then the slow recovery begins.

When we see new branches starting to sprout on the jasmine, it means the recovery has succeeded. After a few more pairs of leaves have grown on the branches, we can gradually remove the plastic bag. Then gradually move it to a place where it can receive light, begin exposing it to sunlight gradually, and once it is back to normal care, that is fine.

For newly bought jasmine, if we find it is not growing well, we can use this method to bring the jasmine back to full vitality.
