Currently, vertical greening products on the market fall into two major categories

planting bags + mixed nutrient soil

The first category is products using planting bags + mixed nutrient soil, and its principle is to install a cloth hung with many pockets on a wall that has undergone substrate treatment.

Disadvantages：

1. The product has high evaporation and uneven watering, which easily leads to regional plant death.

2. Nutrient soil easily breeds pests and mold, which is extremely harmful to the health of the indoor environment.

3. When watering, nutrients in the upper layer gradually seep downward, causing uneven nutrition; after a period of time, growth becomes unbalanced, easily causing regional plant death.

4. Mixed nutrient soil does not have strong water retention and easily compacts and hardens, causing frequent maintenance and increasing labor, water use and other problems.

5. Mixed nutrient soil has low nutrient efficiency and insufficient lasting power, and may even require adding corresponding nutrients to the water system, which increases the technical difficulty for users in caring for plants.

6. The covering ability of the plants is insufficient; it is hoped that lower-layer plants can obscure the planting bags of the upper layer, but the actual effect is difficult to control.

In actual use,，the plant mortality rate after one year can be as high as 90%。its technical content is low，its aesthetic value is weak，it is the most basic form of vertical greening。

Frame module technology

The second category is products using frame module technology, and its principle is to install steel frames of reasonable specifications on the wall to be given three-dimensional greening according to load-bearing design, and then, together with a water system, install modules of medium-oil plants on the basic structure.

Disadvantages：

1. Construction is complex and requires workers to install on site and do basic treatment, so it is not suitable for home use.

2. Predefined modules and structural requirements make the product inflexible; it is generally used more in large projects, and the relative cost for small-area flexible projects is extremely high.

3. Too thick; the average thickness of this type of product is generally over 15 cm (not including plant height), which seriously intrudes on indoor usable area.
