The Tea Research and Extension Station of the Council of Agriculture (hereinafter referred to as the "Tea Research and Extension Station") spent more than ten years developing "GABA oolong tea" (Jiaye Long Tea). The tea contains "gamma-aminobutyric acid," a component that helps soothe the nerves, while also retaining the sweet aftertaste of oolong tea, overturning the general public's concern that drinking tea affects sleep. The Tea Research and Extension Station stated that it is not difficult to retain GABA during the tea-making process, "but the level of content is the key." The GABA content in ordinary GABA oolong tea is only 80mg/100g. Through research and development by the Tea Research and Extension Station, it can be increased to more than 200mg, while also introducing oolong tea fermentation technology to improve the taste.
