Tian Yiwei, from a bonsai family, and an appreciation of his exquisite bonsai works

Teacher Tian Yiwei was born into a bonsai family. He loved art from childhood and learned the craft from his father from a young age, laying a solid foundation in art and sculpture. Because he grew up along the Yangtze River in the Bashu region, he had childhood memories of and affection for the local customs and the mountains and landforms of the Yangtze River area. Every mountain and every stream, every blade of grass and every tree there later became the source of his landscape bonsai creations. Teacher Tian Yiwei has been engaged in bonsai creation for more than 40 years, so that many of the landscape bonsai he creates have accurately handled perspective proportions, revealing the grand within the small, like poetry and painting. The Bashu mountain and river scenery expressed through landscape bonsai is unique and stands out as a style of its own. Whenever I see a new work created by Teacher Tian Yiwei, I feel an inner desire to write an appreciation of it.
