A few days ago, a friend of Huahua called and said that the flowers at home that had been perfectly fine suddenly had leaves that were getting smaller and smaller, and fewer and fewer blooms, and in the end they even stopped blooming altogether. To address this problem, Huahua is here today to have a good talk with all you flower lovers about what exactly you should do when something goes wrong with the flowers at home?

Pothos leaves growing weaker and weaker

Main reason: lack of fertilizer

According to Huahua's experience, generally when pothos leaves become smaller, turn yellow and grow weak, it is all because of a lack of fertilizer!

Solution:

1. If you want pothos to grow vigorously, fertilizer is essential, and Huahua thinks the best fertilizer is rice-washing water.

2. Usually, the water from washing rice at home can be collected directly, put into a plastic bottle, sealed, and placed under the sun to bake, and after about 1 month it will be fully fermented.

3. Mix the fermented rice-washing water with clean water at a ratio of 1:50, and water the pothos about once every 5-7 days, and very soon the pothos leaves will grow bigger and bigger.

Other reason: improper watering

Another important reason why pothos leaves are getting smaller and smaller is improper watering.

Solution:

1. If pothos is watered too little, the water is not enough to support the growth needs of the pothos, so naturally it will not grow big; if watered too much, it will cause root rot, so that the pothos cannot grow. Therefore, normally water about once every 3-5 days, and also spray water toward the leaves to ensure sufficient moisture.

2. To make pothos leaves grow bigger and bigger, we can dilute and stir beer and clean water at a ratio of 1:50, then use a soft cloth to wipe the leaves, so that the stomata of the pothos leaves absorb the fertilizer, and thus they grow bigger and bigger!

Jasmine flowers blooming smaller and smaller

Main reason: lack of fertilizer

Right now is the time when jasmine blooms its autumn flowers, but some flower lovers report that their jasmine either does not bloom or the flowers that do open are especially small, and they even fall off within a few days. Huahua thinks this is a lack of fertilizer.

Solution:

1. If you want jasmine to bloom more and bloom big, it is best to apply more bone meal fertilizer containing plenty of phosphorus.

2. Collect the bones left over from usual meals at home, put them in clean water and boil for more than 20 minutes to evaporate out all the salt in the bones, then place them under the sun to bake for a period of time, and crush all the bones into pieces.

3. You can mix the crushed bones into the soil, so that the fertilizer effect of the bones is slowly absorbed by the jasmine, or you can put the bones in a bottle to slowly ferment, and once they are fully decomposed you can use them to water the jasmine!

Other reason: soil tends to be alkaline

Jasmine flowers like acidic soil, and if the soil tends to be alkaline, it easily causes jasmine flowers to bloom smaller, or even not bloom at all.

Solution:

1. To improve the problem of jasmine soil tending to be alkaline, you can pour a little ferrous sulfate solution into the soil. Mix ferrous sulfate powder and clean water at a ratio of 1:2000 and stir, then use it to water the roots of the jasmine, and very soon you will find the jasmine flowers blooming bigger and bigger.

2. To make jasmine bloom more and bloom big, there is another method: before the jasmine blooms, spray a 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution onto the jasmine plant to encourage it to grow more flower buds, so it can bloom more.

Spider plant leaves growing smaller and smaller

Main reason: lack of fertilizer

Other people's spider plants can grow to 2 fingers wide, while yours is getting narrower and narrower, which is truly a heartbreaking pain. Speaking of the main reason, it is still because of a lack of fertilizer.

Solution:

1. If you want spider plant leaves to grow wider, you have to water the spider plant with a little soybean water.

2. Put moldy soybeans in a pot and boil them, take them out and put them in a plastic bottle, then add a little water to the bottle and seal it, place it under the sun to bake, and about every 3-5 days open the bottle to let it breathe, and after about 1-2 months the soybean water will be fully fermented.

3. Mix the soybean water and clean water at a ratio of 1:50, and use it to water the roots of the spider plant, and within half a month the spider plant leaves will grow bigger and bigger!

Other reason: improper watering

Watering spider plants is an aspect that is not easy to get right; whether watered too much or too little, it will cause the leaves to become smaller.

Solution:

1. The autumn climate is relatively dry, so watering about once every 4-7 days is enough, and spray water toward the leaf surface morning and evening to prevent the leaves from drying out and tip burn.

2. If too much water is given, you can place the flowerpot in a cool, ventilated place so that the excess water in the pot evaporates out as soon as possible, avoiding root rot, and over time the spider plant leaves will grow bigger and bigger.

Clivia leaves growing thinner and thinner

C o m p l e t e G u i d e t o F l o w e r G r o w i n g

Main reason: lack of fertilizer

Clivia is loved by many people for its thick, fleshy leaves and bright flowers, but some flower lovers have found that the Clivia at home has leaves growing smaller and smaller, and the flowers it produces are also very small. Huahua thinks that in this situation, nine times out of ten it is a lack of fertilizer.

Solution:

1. If you want Clivia leaves to grow thicker and thicker and the flowers to be big and bright, you have to apply enough fertilizer, and especially flower fertilizer fermented from oil crops is something Clivia likes very much.

2. Collect moldy peanuts, sunflower seeds, soybean dregs and the like, put them all in a container, then add water and seal it, place it under the sun to bake, and about every 3-5 days open the lid to let it breathe, and after about 2 months it will be fully fermented.

3. Once it is fully decomposed, mix the liquid fertilizer and clean water evenly at a ratio of 1:50, then about every 7-10 days, water the roots of the Clivia once, and after about 2-3 times, the Clivia leaves will grow bigger and bigger.

Other reason: overwatering

The root system of Clivia is a fleshy root with good water storage, so if watered too much, it easily causes root rot, which leads to the leaves growing smaller and smaller and the flowers blooming smaller and smaller as well.

Solution:

1. If the Clivia has been overwatered and the root system has not rotted, then place the flowerpot in a cool, ventilated place and simply let the excess water in the pot evaporate out.

2. If the Clivia root system has already rotted, then the only option is to repot it.

(1) Before repotting the Clivia, stop watering for 1 week to let the soil separate from the flowerpot, then remove it from the pot and clean the soil off the root system.

(2) Cut off all the old roots, weak roots, diseased roots and so on from the Clivia root system, keeping only the healthy roots.

(3) Then soak the trimmed Clivia root system in a carbendazim solution for more than 20 minutes, then take it out and let it dry.

(4) The soil for repotting must be loose and breathable; you can mix garden soil and river sand at a ratio of 5:2, and you can also toss a few peanuts or sunflower seeds into the bottom of the pot as slow-release fertilizer, then directly pot the Clivia.

(5) After potting, water once thoroughly, then place it in a cool, ventilated place for 2-3 days, then switch back to normal care. Clivia that has been repotted and given new soil this way is less likely to suffer root rot from overwatering, which also avoids the situation of Clivia leaves growing smaller and smaller.

That is all Huahua will introduce for today.
