Constipated goldfish: man spends 300 pounds on a laxative operation

According to a Daily Mail report on January 1, a man in the UK recently discovered that his pet goldfish was "having trouble pooping." After consulting a veterinarian, the man decided to spend 300 pounds on surgery for the goldfish, which was less than 3 years old.
The veterinarian first placed anesthetic into the goldfish tank, then used minimally invasive tools to help the goldfish expel two large pieces of feces accumulated in its body. The entire surgery lasted 50 minutes, and the goldfish, which was nearly 10 cm long, recovered its health after the operation.
Previously, veterinarians had performed similar surgery on larger carp. Because fish suffering from constipation cannot defecate, a slight mistake during anesthesia can be fatal. The veterinarian said that the goldfish that recovered this time could live up to 10 years.
Surely few people would be willing to spend that much money to treat a little goldfish, right?
