Growing roses on a balcony with security bars - nothing is impossible

Having a rose garden is the dream of every rose lover, but not every gardener can buy a villa or live in a house with a yard. Most of the time, we just have a balcony, not too big and not too small, and it even has security bars installed. But the sincere love for growing roses never changes. Today let's take a look at this gardener's rose dream on a security-bar balcony - actually, nothing is impossible.
First, lighting
To grow roses, the first thing to solve is the lighting problem, but not every gardener has a terrace at home, and the duration of full sun also depends on the balcony's position. Generally, a south-facing balcony or west-facing balcony is a better location, and the worst is a north-facing balcony. Slightly south or slightly west positions are both fine - just assess your own balcony's position.
Huahua's balcony is a north-facing balcony, which is a big disadvantage for growing roses, but by using good soil and good fertilizer, the roses are kept blooming. On top of that, you have to be ready at all times to prevent pests and diseases, because with less sun exposure, pests and diseases breed quickly - that's unavoidable. Still, through her own efforts, she has managed to give roses a place on the balcony.
Second, fertilizing
When growing roses, there is no gardener who doesn't fertilize, but fertilizing also requires attention to detail - the amount used matters, and the timing matters too. Generally, do not choose to fertilize at noon; morning and evening are more suitable. In winter and summer, the fertilizing amount should be half of that in spring and autumn.
When planting roses for the first time, choose organic fertilizer and mix it well with media such as pine bark and peat. For each 20 cm pot, you can put about 20 g to 50 g of fermented chicken manure. You can also mix in organic fertilizers such as bone meal, cake fertilizer and fermented sheep manure, but the overall amount must not be too much.
For daily nutrient maintenance, you can use an ecologically safe organic nutrient solution, rich and balanced in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, purely fermented from sugarcane stalks, to promote layer-by-layer growth of the plant, making it strong, with more new shoots and glossy green leaves.
Pruning is essential
The first blooming of roses is in spring, and pruning after blooming is generally done in late May. At this time, pruning mainly means removing the spent flowers so they do not set seed, which allows nutrients to be used for growing new branches and leaves, and the second blooming will be better.
At this time, light pruning is preferable, keeping about 5 buds on the upper part of the plant. If a branch is growing poorly, it can be pruned hard to make it grow new branches. Pruning the branches and leaves of roses to different degrees can make the plant grow well and more evenly.
When pruning, pay attention to cutting above a bud, generally best at about 0.5 cm above it.
