There seems to have been more and more rain lately. I wonder if everyone has felt this way?
Yesterday I saw bayberry at the fruit shop, and only then did I remember that the "plum rain" mode seems about to begin. No wonder the weather has been so humid lately, with continuous overcast rain.
For our beloved roses, the "plum rain season" is not a comfortable season at all. Because rain is frequent, rose black spot disease also tends to break out easily.
What is rose black spot disease?
Rose black spot disease is a worldwide disease. It mainly harms rose leaves, forming black or brown spots with irregular edges on the leaf surface. When the disease is severe, it can cause entire leaves to drop.
For roses, the destructive power of black spot disease is enormous, directly affecting the quality of rose blooms in autumn and spring.
Because roses greatly love light and need their leaves for photosynthesis, if they are infected with black spot disease and their leaves drop, it will seriously affect the roses' photosynthesis, causing weak growth and affecting blooming.
The peak period of black spot disease:
The rainy season is the peak season for black spot disease. If infected plants are not treated, after being drenched by rain, the fungal spores of brown spot disease will spread rapidly, infecting other leaves and plants.
Therefore, prevention work must be done well during the rainy season when black spot disease is frequent.
Control methods for black spot disease:
Now is the peak season for black spot disease, so fungicide should be applied frequently for prevention. For preventive application, zineb can be used.
If you find that the roses have already been infected with black spot disease and there are relatively few diseased leaves, you can cut off the diseased leaves, then spray agents for treating black spot disease, such as myclobutanil, carbendazim, flusilazole, kresoxim-methyl, and so on.
Black spot disease should focus on prevention, using zineb for prevention after each rain.
When applying medication for treatment, for severely infected plants, 2 kinds of medication can be used at the same time to enhance the treatment effect. When spraying, both the whole plant and the potting soil should be sprayed.
Flower lovers growing roses outdoors, please remember: fertilize before rain, apply fungicide after rain.
Before the rainy season arrives, hurry up and take action to do a good job of preventing black spot disease. For flower-growing questions, find Blue Goblin. Please follow my WeChat public account: Blue Goblin Garden (ilanyao)
