When it comes to growing succulents, quite a few gardening friends shake their heads again and again - they have grown them several times, and every time they died for no apparent reason, so they never want to grow them again! Actually, Huahua thinks growing succulents is not that scary at all - you just have not found the right varieties for you! Today, Huahua is here to introduce a few succulents that fill their pots especially easily, so you can effortlessly become a master grower!

Sedum dasyphyllum (Hime Shinbijn)

Care points:

1. Summer weather is hot, so be sure to provide shade, but do not keep it completely out of the sun, otherwise the stems easily fall over.

2. Cuttings root especially easily - cut a 5-7cm piece and insert it directly into loose, breathable soil, and it will take root in about 15-20 days.

Orostachys boehmeri (Chinese dunce cap)

Care points:

1. It loves light, and only with enough sun will it grow vigorously, but in summer be sure to remember to shade it. Normally it fills its pot easily without any fertiliser.

2. If you want it to fill its pot as quickly as possible, you can normally propagate it by beheading.

Sedum japonicum 'Tokyo Sun' (Golden Japanese stonecrop)

Care points:

1. Sedum japonicum 'Tokyo Sun' loves sunbathing - the better the light, the more obvious its colour, so be sure to put it on a south-facing balcony or south-facing windowsill or another spot with good light, and water only when you find the potting soil has completely dried out.

2. During the growing period, leaves will drop off; at this point trim it a little with scissors, then insert the cut stems directly as cuttings, and it will quickly fill its pot!

Sedum rubrotinctum (Jelly Bean plant)

Care points:

1. You must give Sedum rubrotinctum enough light, otherwise it very easily becomes leggy, which is why quite a few gardening friends call it the "king of legginess". Normally place it on a well-ventilated south-facing balcony or south-facing windowsill, and if conditions allow, outdoors is best.

2. Sedum rubrotinctum is especially easy to grow - if a leaf drops into the pot, it can take root on its own, so whether you propagate from stem cuttings or leaf cuttings, it easily fills its pot!

Crassula perforata (String of Buttons)

Care points:

1. Although String of Buttons loves sunbathing, when summer temperatures get too high it still goes dormant, and at this point you must be sure to control water, otherwise its roots will rot in no time!

2. String of Buttons needs continual pruning - cut off the messy branches to keep the plant's shape looking good; use the cut branches directly as cuttings, and they will take root in about 10 days and quickly fill the pot!

Crassula rupestris 'Tom Thumb' (Xiaomi Star)

Care points:

1. Xiaomi Star loves sunbathing, but when summer gets too hot it goes dormant, so be sure to put Xiaomi Star in a cool, ventilated place, reduce watering, and let Xiaomi Star get through the summer safely.

2. Xiaomi Star is generally propagated by beheading - choose a healthy section of stem, cut it off, let the wound dry, then insert it into soil, and it will quickly take root and fill the pot!

Graptosedum 'Bronze' (Ji Longyue)

Care points:

1. The more light, the better the colour, so a south-facing balcony or south-facing windowsill is best. But in summer, when temperatures reach 35°C, you must shade it to prevent the leaves from being scorched.

2. Ji Longyue is drought-tolerant - each time wait until the potting soil is completely dry before watering, and do not let water accumulate in the pot; apply organic fertiliser or compound fertiliser about once every 20 days to help Ji Longyue fill its pot more quickly!

Sempervivum tectorum (Hens and Chicks)

Care points:

1. Hens and Chicks grows in spring and autumn and goes dormant in summer; at this point you can put it in a well-ventilated indoor corridor or on the inner side of a balcony where there is no direct light.

2. Hens and Chicks often produces lots of little chicks - cut these chicks off, let the wounds dry, then pot them directly, and they quickly become new little Hens and Chicks seedlings!

That is all Huahua has to share today.

Gardening friends, hurry to the flower market and buy a pot,

and let the succulents at home quickly fill their pots!
