There are many causes of root rot in asparagus fern: if it is caused by too much or too frequent watering, then control the amount of water well and do not water too much. If it is caused by excessive fertilizing, then reduce the amount of fertilizer and do not fertilize frequently. If it is caused by relatively low temperatures, then increase the temperature appropriately. If it is caused by not repotting for a long time, then repot once every 2-3 years.

1. Reduce watering

Cause: Usually, watering asparagus fern too much or too frequently makes waterlogging easy to occur, and long-term waterlogging will cause the roots to rot.

Solution: Control the amount of water well and do not water too much; too much watering will cause waterlogging. After discovering root rot, take it out promptly, cut off the rotted roots, and replant it.

2. Reduce fertilizing

Cause: Applying too much or too frequent fertilizer to asparagus fern will cause root rot.

Solution: Reduce the amount of fertilizer, fertilize in appropriate amounts, and do not fertilize too frequently; applying an appropriate amount of diluted nitrogen fertilizer is enough.

3. Increase the temperature

Cause: Winter temperatures are generally relatively low, and in some areas the temperature is extremely low. When the temperature is relatively low, it is very easy for it to suffer cold damage, and after being frozen it is easy for root rot to occur.

Solution: Increase the temperature appropriately in winter, preferably keeping the temperature at 5-10°C, or simply place it indoors to grow.

4. Repot in time

Cause: If it is not repotted for a long time, the root system of the asparagus fern will fill the flowerpot, and after a long time waterlogging will appear; once waterlogging appears, it is very easy to cause root rot.

Solution: Repot once every 2-3 years. This can not only prevent root rot from occurring, but also benefit its growth.
