Gardenia likes slightly acidic soil, and this is the key to growing this flower well. The following points are mainly optimized and improved from this foundation:

1. Spread a layer of sphagnum peat moss over the gardenia shrub. Peat, as an organic fertilizer, slowly provides a stable acid supply and helps maintain a healthy pH. Peat gradually releases acid into the soil as it decomposes, making it far superior to ordinary acidic chemical solutions. Grass clippings, leaves and branches usually do not produce acidic products when they decompose.

2. Sprinkle iron sulfate around your gardenia. This will harmlessly prevent "anemia" in the plant. Insufficient iron in the soil can cause gardenia leaves to turn yellow.

3. Test the soil pH of the gardenia once a month. These acid-loving plants need a pH of 4.5 to 5.5. If the level is above this, then for a healthy gardenia the soil composition is too alkaline. They will not be able to process and use fertilizer. Adjust the pH as needed to maintain the proper level.

4. Throughout the growing season, water the gardenia shrub every two weeks with a water-soluble fertilizer for flowering plants.

Do the above four points, and your gardenia will bloom all over the branches!
