Summer chrysanthemum, 'Mingliu Qianqiu'.

A small seedling bought for 2 yuan years ago

Since then, it bursts into a full pot every May and October, super impressive.

Oh, I see many friends like summer chrysanthemums~ then VV will chatter a bit about this little one's care experience:

1, Pruning.

Generally, three prunings a year are a must~

In winter, a hard prune; I usually cut it completely bare, leaving only a few cm of the plant~ all the leaves cut off.

In spring, shape it; for the plant that regrows in spring, before it produces flower buds, pay attention to shaping, which is also topping to encourage branching.

In summer, shape it; summer chrysanthemums have a peak bloom in May, and after the flowers fade, cut off all the spent flowers, and you can cut a bit deeper; they will bloom again in October.

2, Fertilizing.

Personally, I think summer chrysanthemums are not very heavy feeders.

Generally, in early spring, scattering a handful of compound fertilizer is enough for the spring growth needs.

Then in May when flower buds appear, you can use water-soluble fertilizer two or three times.

3, Pests.

Well, chrysanthemums, aphids are their natural enemy~ unavoidable~

I generally use abamectin + Huhuashen + matrine in rotation~

Recently I have been using abamectin, once a week, and the effect is still quite good.

4, Light.

Almost forgot to mention this, uh, although summer chrysanthemums bloom in summer~

But actually, they do not like strong light; the harsher the sun, the paler the flower color.

So, it is best to place them at the base of a wall corner, with a little shade, otherwise the flowers will turn white.

Also, summer chrysanthemum flowers are deep pink when they first open, and as time goes on the color slowly fades~

Because of this, from the pictures, it looks like one plant produces multiple colors.

That is roughly it, for reference only. Ah hahahaha >w
