How to grow a cactus (ball cactus) well? A detailed guide to care methods
1. Suitable soil
It is best to choose sandy soil with good drainage, and also pay attention to nutrients. Specifically, you can evenly mix peat soil and fine sand, or you can choose pine needle soil with fine sand added.
2. Suitable temperature
Only at a suitable temperature can it grow well. However, there will be differences between day and night; above 20 degrees during the day is better, and above 10 degrees at night.
3. Sufficient light
Light is very important, more important than factors such as temperature. Except for the particularly strong light in summer, try to let it receive as much light as possible at other times. If sunlight is insufficient, you can also use lighting as a supplement.
4. An appropriate amount of water
It does not need too much water, but it cannot go without any at all. Each time just water a little, then wait until the soil is dry before watering again. In addition, be careful not to let it be hit by summer rainstorms.
5. Sufficient fertilizer
When planting and repotting, base fertilizer needs to be added to the soil, such as bean cake, sesame paste residue, etc. This can effectively make up for the problem of insufficient soil nutrients and help the plant grow well. Besides base fertilizer, regular fertilization is also needed during the growing period. About every two weeks, it needs to be watered with fertilizer, using fermented organic liquid fertilizer. The concentration should not be too high, about 20 percent.
6. Preventing and controlling pests and diseases
Under conditions of high temperature and poor ventilation, pests and diseases will occur more often and affect its growth. For diseases, carbendazim can be used; for pests, omethoate can be used.
