It was only because I took one more look at you in the crowd that I could never forget your face again!

The first time I was stunned by succulents was in middle school, when I saw a four-meter-tall cactus tree at school in bloom. The flowers all over the tree refreshed my understanding of cacti, and I was truly shocked by this wild beauty. That was when I learned about the drought tolerance of succulents and their vitality of taking root wherever they fall. It was as if a wild child had met a kindred spirit, moved by such beauty...

It was not until later, when the flower shop started carrying succulents, that there was no stopping it. I discovered a world of a succulent kingdom and became obsessed with all kinds of succulents.

And the feeling for old trees, that was a memory from childhood. The old tree in front of the gate, the longhorn beetles that loved to gnaw on willow trees, a few cicadas chirping in the trees, and Grandma's kind face occupied the summers of my childhood. The longhorn beetles eventually gnawed two old willow trees to death, and Grandma had long since passed away. The summers spent playing under the trees became an eternal memory.

The person is gone, and the things are no longer the same, yet the old tree roots remain in my mind, so warm and dear.

I have always felt that dead wood and succulents are the perfect match! Only this dead wood, weathered by the ages, steady and low-key, is worthy of the succulents' peerless elegance and rich variety!

Who said rotten wood cannot be carved? When it meets succulents, it awakens a long-sealed heartbeat. Rotten wood itself is already a very beautiful work, so why does it need carving?

In that life, I was a great tree soaring into the clouds, and you strove to grow in the sunlight far away. No matter how I stretched my branches, I could not reach your sky. So I just watched you from afar, amazed again and again...

The years withered my branches and weathered my face. I had slept for many years, and now I see the light of day again, with you by my side. This time, we can nestle together in the sunlight, stay with you for a long time, let my nutrients live bit by bit in your blood, and let us bloom together in stunning splendor under the sun!

When Succulents Meet Dead Wood

In that life, I looked up at your towering form from a crack in the rocks. When the wind blew, you swayed in many graceful ways, birds frolicked joyfully on your branches, and all was flourishing...

Who knows how many years passed, your trunk lay on the ground. After being washed by wind and rain, it was still towering, with a bit more of a weathered beauty. Carrying the memories of my past life, I came to your side!

Please let me bloom more gorgeously. At last, I do not have to look up at you from afar. Your embrace has become my warm harbor. You can no longer send your roots deep into the ground, so let me continue your life and accept the baptism of sunlight, wind, and rain!

Let us bloom together in the sunlight!

Loving you, with no return, in your embrace, welcoming the years.

Let me bloom beautifully, with quiet years, and stay with you forever!
