Seed propagation: mostly used to cultivate new rose varieties; simply germinate the seeds and sow them. Division propagation: new roots grown from the stems of each branch can be separated and grown into new plants. Cutting propagation: treat the cut branches before planting them in soil. Grafting propagation: graft buds or branches onto other plants.

1. Seed propagation

This method is mostly used to cultivate new varieties. Plant the seeds collected in autumn in a bag filled with moist sandy soil, then place the bag in an environment with a large temperature difference between day and night. After 1 month, move it to a place at around 20°C. Once the seeds germinate, they can be sown.

2. Division propagation

Plant the rose deeper or mound soil around the base so that each branch grows new roots. Then, by repotting, you can cut apart the side branches that have grown new roots and separate them into new plants.

3. Cutting propagation

① Semi-hardwood cutting: In this method, from June to September, select branches whose flowers have just faded, cut off the flower stalk, trim the lower part of the branch flat, keep 2-3 nodes as one small section, remove the lower leaf, then remove the withered and old leaves, treat with a growth hormone, and then carry out the cutting.

② Hardwood cutting: Use the one-year-old plump branches prepared before overwintering, likewise keeping 2-3 nodes as one small section, tie 10 branches together as a group, dig a 30cm pit in a low-temperature room, bury the branches upside down in the soil, cover the top with soil, and keep the soil moist. The following spring, they can be used for cuttings.

4. Grafting propagation

① Bud grafting: Every 5 to 9 days, select good young buds from a healthy parent plant, cut them off with a knife, and graft them onto a 'Baiyutang' or rose rootstock. After the buds take, cut the branches bearing the successfully grafted buds into sections, one successfully grafted bud per section, and then propagate the branches by the cutting method.

② Branch grafting: In spring, use the cut grafting or side grafting method to graft the branches onto the branches of other plants.
