The spider plant's leaves are shaped like those of an orchid, fresh and elegant, making it a common favorite among plant lovers. It also has a unique indoor air-purifying effect, which is also an important reason many flower lovers grow spider plants indoors. With potted spider plants at home, people often find the leaves bending downward and impossible to prop back up. That must mean something has gone wrong with the usual care routine. The methods recommended today will, with proper care, give you firm, thriving leaves that never bend again!

Light: Spider plants like a semi-shady environment, and direct sunlight easily causes the leaf tips to scorch. However, if a spider plant stays in a dim environment for a long time, its leaves will grow soft from the lack of light. Soft leaves bend at the slightest touch, and limp, weak leaves naturally cannot be propped back up.

Spider plants should be grown in a spot that gets no direct sunlight but is airy and not dim. If the plant can receive a few hours of light each day (avoiding the midday hours), it will naturally be firm and thriving.

Watering: Although spider plants like moisture, too much watering or poor drainage in the potting soil easily leads to root rot. Once the roots have problems, the leaves are bound to become scorched, dry and yellow, weak and limp, and therefore prone to bending.

So repot and change the soil regularly; loosening the soil is very important. When aeration is poor, the roots struggle to breathe and the leaves turn yellow. Do not water too often, and if you find water accumulating in the potting soil, deal with it promptly.

Fertilizing: Spider plants like fertilizer. If fertilizer and water are insufficient, the leaf color fades and the leaf tips scorch and soften.

Fertilize in the right amount, do not let the spider plant lack nutrients, and make sure the plant has plenty of nutrients in its system. Besides fertilizing, when watering you can also pour some organic nutrient solution into the pot to help the spider plant grow better.

If a moment of neglect causes so many of the pothos leaves to bend that they cannot be saved, then just "give it a trim": cut all the spider plant leaves off from the base, care for it carefully, and before long new spider plants will grow.
