First, the materials you need to prepare

1. The first step is to prepare a suitable flower pot: buying a flower pot is very simple, an unglazed clay pot, size 10×10×10. This flower pot must maintain good breathability and drainage.

2. Find some bark that breaks apart easily; this kind of bark should be available at flower markets.

3. Prepare some wood shavings and Dendrobium seedlings.

The steps for potting are as follows:

Step 1: Put the Dendrobium seedlings into the flower pot you have prepared in advance, then add the easily broken bark and wood shavings. These only need to cover the plant's roots, as long as the roots are not left exposed outside. There is no need to bury them too deep; burying them too deep will instead cause trouble.

Step 2: Pour clean water into the watering can you prepared in advance and sprinkle it on. It is best to thoroughly water the wood shavings and bark in the flower pot all at once. But do not water too much either, which would cause waterlogging. So after watering, also pay attention to the drainage situation.

Step 3: Precise fertilizing. For fertilizing, just do it when spring first arrives and in late autumn; fertilizing in these two seasons is enough. It does not need to be especially troublesome: put 10-15 granules of fertilizer into water to dilute, and after diluting, apply it to the flower pot. If there are no special circumstances during the year, fertilizing these two times is enough.

Step 4: If you find the plant is attacked by pests and diseases, treat it according to the severity of the pests and diseases. If the situation is relatively mild and the affected area is relatively small, then remove the diseased leaves, and then spray the corresponding insecticide onto the plant for thorough treatment.

The last step: Place the Dendrobium in a position where it can receive sunlight; the lighting time does not need to be too long either. As long as it can get about 1 hour of sunlight, that is enough. When the hot summer days arrive, it is best not to expose it to the sun during the midday period, and do a good job of shading.
