The lavender we usually see is mostly planted in large drifts. In fact, sometimes growing a pot of it is also a good choice, since the scent of lavender has a calming effect. The only downside is that when grown in a pot, it may bloom relatively little, but that does not really matter. If conditions allow, planting a few more pots is quite nice too. Today let us share some small points to note when growing lavender in pots!

Lavender likes slightly alkaline or neutral sandy soil. When growing it in a pot, be sure to choose a medium with good drainage, and not one that easily compacts, so that poor drainage does not keep the lavender roots from breathing and easily cause them to die.

Lavender is very easy to grow and can be managed fairly casually, but it cannot tolerate heat and humidity. So when growing it in a pot, be careful not to place it somewhere with too high a temperature. Provide appropriate shade in summer, and when there is a lot of rain, also try to keep the plant from getting rained on, otherwise waterlogging may cause root rot and death.

Lavender is not a small flower. When growing it in a pot, you should choose a somewhat larger container for cultivation. In addition, do not choose a non-water-permeable ceramic pot or plastic pot; only this way will later care be easier.

Lavender is not a weed. If you want it to grow well, it also needs fertilizing. You can put bone meal into the potting soil as a base fertilizer, and apply dilute fertilizer frequently. If the potting soil is fertile or has base fertilizer, then no fertilizing is needed at the seedling stage. After the plant grows larger, you can fertilize once a month. Be careful not to use heavy fertilizer. You can use some organic fertilizers with a relatively high phosphorus content, such as cake fertilizer water and decomposed bone meal. During the flowering period, stop fertilizing.

Finally, the editor reminds everyone that when the main stem of lavender grows to 30 cm tall, the tender tips can also be picked for eating.
