Leaf cuttings are a propagation method for many plants, and most succulents can be propagated from leaf cuttings. Today I'll introduce the leaf cutting methods for kalanchoe and ZZ plant!

Kalanchoe leaf cutting method:

(1). Cut the growing leaves from the tips of healthy, disease-free kalanchoe branches, keep 2 pairs of leaves, and place them in a cool, ventilated spot to dry, letting the wound at the base of the leaf stalk air-dry a little.

(2). Prepare the soil; you can mix 5 parts nutrient soil, 3 parts coir brick soil and 2 parts perlite to make the cutting soil. Peat or garden soil can both serve as the leaf cutting medium.

(3). Insert the leaves into the medium, burying the leaf stalks in the soil with the leaves exposed outside, water once thoroughly, then place in a cool, ventilated spot and wait for roots to form.

(4). After about 5~6 months they will root and sprout. It takes a bit of time, so be patient; water when dry and just keep the soil slightly moist.

ZZ plant leaf cutting method:

(1). Pick healthy, disease-free leaves from the ZZ plant, keeping the leaf stalks. Soak the leaves in carbendazim to disinfect them; if conditions allow, soak them in rooting solution to promote rooting.

(2). Prepare a loose, fertile leaf cutting medium with good drainage and aeration; you can mix 3 parts peat soil, 1 part perlite and 1 part river sand, and put the soil into a flower pot.

(3). Insert the leaves diagonally into the soil, to a depth of one third to one half of the leaf.

(3). Keep it in a cool, ventilated spot for care. Water when the soil dries, and sprinkle a little water as appropriate to keep the soil moist; roots will form in 1~3 months.
