Key Technical Points for Summer Fruit Tree Pest and Disease Control

Summer Fruit Tree Pest and Disease Control Techniques
In summer, there is a lot of rain, high temperatures, and high humidity, and various weeds grow vigorously, making fruit tree pests and diseases prone to outbreaks and spread. To effectively control summerfruit tree pest and disease outbreaks and ensure fruit quality and a bumper harvest, one shouldadhere to the principles of prevention first, integrated control, and early and small-scale treatment, and on the basis ofgood forecasting and forecasting, effectively control the occurrence of pests and diseases.
Control timing. ① The occurrence of fruit tree pests and diseases is generally divided into three stages:initial outbreak, peak outbreak, and final outbreak. Treatment should be carried out at the initial outbreak stage, before they spreadand become hidden. At this time, the insects are small, have thin body walls, eat little, areconcentrated in activity, and have low resistance to pesticides. ② The initial control thresholds differfor different pests, such as: peach fruit borer egg-bearing fruit rate reaching 1%, red spider mite 2to 3 per leaf, leaf-eating insects having eaten 5% of leaves, aphids 5 to 6per leaf or 8 to 10 colonies per 100 young shoots. Do a good job of monitoring and forecasting, andgrasp the control thresholds in a timely manner. ③ When spraying for control, pay attention to weather changes and observethe four unsuitable conditions: do not spray in strong winds; do not spray protective andsystemic fungicides before rain; do not spray during high temperatures, to avoid pesticide poisoning; donot spray when dew has not dried, as it easily burns leaves.
Control methods. ① Forecasting and monitoring: randomly select 5 to 10points in different directions within the orchard, separately investigate the current occurrence of diseases on leaves, fruit, and branchesand the occurrence of insect stages, and promptlypropose control plans based on pest and disease control thresholds. ② Strengthen and improve cultivation management measures to promotevigorous tree growth, improve disease resistance, and carry out integrated control at the appropriate time. ③ Forfruit tree pests and diseases that have already occurred, adopt biological and physical control methods. For example, remove diseased, insect-infested, and rotten fruit; scrape off hidden eggs, pupae, insects, and diseasedand rotten bark, galls, and tumors on branches; dig out pathogens and pests in the roots and underground;prune out various damaged pest-infested branches and shoots; use black light lamps, frequency-vibration insect-killinglamps, sugar-vinegar solution, sex pheromones, tying grass on trunks, and various other methods to trap and kill pearfruit borer, peach fruit borer, peach pyralid, and other fruit borers, as well as some leaf miners, leaf rollers, and otherhairy caterpillar pests. ④ Rational pesticide use. Choose pyrethroid high-efficiency, low-toxicity, low-residue pesticides, strictly follow the instructions, dilute accurately, and apply rationally.Spraying should be comprehensive and uniform, with the trunk and leaf undersides fully covered with pesticide. Organicpesticides and inorganic pesticides should be applied alternately, or two or more different agents should be mixedand applied. Depending on the occurrence of pests and diseases, pesticide formulations such as difenoconazole, Junxiudi, mancozeb, Pencozeb, Shajunyou, carbendazim, diniconazole, tebuconazole, abamectin, cypermethrin, imidacloprid, acetamiprid, pymetrozine, and others can be selected, with pesticides applied alternately to avoid the development of resistance. ⑤ When pests and diseases occurlightly, spray as little pesticide as possible to give full play to the role of natural enemies of pests, achievingcontrol of pests by insects.
