Prune your cyclamen like this after it finishes blooming, and new shoots will keep growing

Cyclamen, whose name means "an immortal guest arriving unexpectedly," fully reflects the beauty of this flower. Especially before it opens, the buds hang low, just like a crane, and after it blooms it is delicate and charming, which is why it is so loved by gardeners. So today Huahua will teach you the summer care methods for cyclamen!
Cyclamen usually blooms in winter. Now that the flowering period is over, we should handle it all the more carefully, otherwise once it uses up a large amount of nutrients, in the end the tuber will just rot and die. So if you still want to see your cyclamen bloom, you absolutely must not sit back and do nothing!
The first thing to do is, when the outdoor temperature reaches 20°C, start pruning its leaves, that is, remove all the diseased and excess leaves, about 1/3 of the total. If the flower stems tend to fall over, you can gently tie them up with string to keep the plant shape from becoming messy!
When the outdoor temperature is close to 30°C, keep only 4 or 5 leaves on the plant; this helps reduce its burden, but do not leave not a single leaf! Because a cyclamen that goes dormant with leaves will wake up earlier than one that goes dormant without leaves.
If the cyclamen wakes up earlier, it can accumulate more nutrients, thereby speeding up growth and increasing the number of flowers. In addition, promptly remove all remaining flowers on it to prevent excessive nutrient consumption.
Then place the pruned cyclamen in a cool place, do not shade it completely, weak light is enough, but be sure to ensure ventilation! During this period we should observe carefully, mainly looking at the color of the leaves. When you find the leaves starting to turn yellow, it proves it is still consuming nutrients, and you can prune off one or two more leaves.
During the dormant period, watering is a very important issue. First of all, be sure to avoid rain, otherwise just wait for its roots to rot! Then, if the soil is dry, you can water a small amount, or we can add water to the tray under the flowerpot and let it be drawn up into the pot. Try to avoid watering from the top, otherwise, if the water amount is not controlled well, the cyclamen's tuber is extremely prone to rot.
